Hatch em - Match em & Dispatch em From the Pastor Christmas is here. I believe I got the first reminder some time back in late September. I can t remember where I was. I can t remember what store I was in. I do remember I was looking for an umbrella and out of nowhere, I stumble upon a seasonal display that was in process they were just starting to assemble it. It was for Christmas. In September. Here s the thing about Christmas: it doesn t sneak up on you. Other holidays can show up when you least expect them, leaving you unprepared. And then there are those sneaky anniversaries and birthdays. But Christmas we always see Christmas coming! That couldn t be any more different than the experience of the first Christmas 2000 years ago. This was an event only few saw coming. God makes a worldchanging investment in the lives of God s people. In the Church, we prepare ourselves as we anticipate His coming. We call it the season of Advent. We always see Christmas coming but there is a difference between counting down the days and preparing for the arrival. This season build in a pause between Thanksgiving and Christmas. This season soak in some of the wonder. This season as you see Christmas coming may it be born again in you. --Blessings Pastor Doug Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, For unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulders, and His name shall be called wonderful, counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Thanks to First United Methodist members and friends for tabs from cans (soda, soup, or other aluminum cans). Over 20 pounds of tabs were delivered to the Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines in October. These donated tabs help offset the Ronald McDonald expenses and help families that stay at these homes while they have a sick child in the hospital. The tabs of a standard soda can is made of high quality, high-grad aluminum. By itself, it doesn t mean much, but when you pull together, pop-tabs add up and become a valuable donation. Approximately 1,430 pull tabs equal one pound. Approximately 63,360 pull tabs equals a mile. Every year more than $10,000 is raised from this program. So little things make a big difference. Ronald McDonald House Thank you to ALL who donated to the Thanksgiving Ingathering projects in October. Twenty Hygiene Kits and 30 School Kits were completed and sent to the Webster City gathering point along with a check for $1,420. That included $1,290 for BLAN- KETS and the rest for tooth paste and shipping expenses for the kits. Your generosity will help many people in many places. Outreach Committee

Christmas Candy Cane Poem about Jesus Look at the Candy Cane What do you see? Stripes that are red Like the blood shed for me White is for my Savior Who s sinless and pure! J is for Jesus My Lord, that s for sure! Turn it around And a staff you will see Jesus my shepherd Was born for Me! CHRISTMAS THOUGHTS Did you know that the chopping down of the Christmas tree represents the death of Christ and putting it back up again represents the resurrection of Christ? Did you know that the wreaths we hang are never ending circles that represent eternity? Candy Canes were made to look like shepherd hooks and the colors; Red Jesus Blood; White Purity. The gifts represents the 3 gifts the wise men brought for Jesus. So when you are running around trying to get the perfect gift, stop yourself, take a deep breath and remember we have been given the perfect gift, Jesus Christ was given to us to remove all of our sins and prepare a place for us in Heaven...MERRY CHRISTMAS! Sunday, December 9 5:00 pm Youth Soup Supper Fundraiser 7:00 pm Children s Program Come enjoy the food, fellowship & program 1. Bulletin Folders - Thank you to Jean Bielfelt for volunteering to help fold bulletins. I still need ONE more (man of woman) to complete one team. Would you consider volunteering? Also, I need a few as alternates that can be called if someone can t make it the day they are scheduled. 2. Office Help - No one stepped forward. Would you please consider serving the Lord in this area? I have a list of ladies that cover the office when I go on vacation or have a sick day. That list has had a few that had to stop helping so I need a few new people to add so the ones currently helping won t have to work as often. If you are willing and available to be added to one or both of these groups please give me a call at the office 432-4660. Thanks, Donna
