How were your holidays? I hope they were both physically and spiritually satisfying. The work at St Anthony s is ramping up for another faith filled year, and I m glad you re here with me on this journey together. This year you and I are going to look at our lives through the lens of stewardship. Our master, Jesus Christ, had much to say about this topic. (for example, Luke 12:42-48) He often used the word stewardship to help people understand the value of their lives and what they should be doing with their God-given time, talent, and treasure. You and I, as parents, can learn this year how we are stewards of both ourselves and our children. Let s start off this new year looking at ways we can be wise in the use of our treasure. Often times when we think of treasure, we think of money, material wealth. But the word treasure can encompass more than the material. For example, we have been entrusted with the deposit of faith. Webster s dictionary defines the deposit of faith as: the body of revealed truth in the Scriptures and tradition proposed by the Roman Catholic Church for the belief of the faithful. You and I and our families attend mass, obviously because you are reading this, but can we say we have a firm grasp on this deposit of faith? How do we obtain and continue to have a firm grasp on it? One way is by attending the parent meetings held during religious education Sunday mornings at 9:15. We have meetings in both English and Spanish. Parents are enjoying the series of conversations taken from the book, A Well Built Faith. They are learning how to not only build their faith but also build the faith of their children. These meetings are free to all parents and interested ones. Come join us! Another way is by attending the Bishop Barron programs offered as part of Word on Fire. The latest one, Conversion: Following the Call of Christ, is offered in both the daytime and evening from January to March. Think about how your understanding of the deposit of faith will grow and become more complete by this study. Don t miss it! Our parish app is full of wonderful videos by Monsignor, the Rosary by Fr Riccardo, and a whole section on prayers including our featured parish prayer the Angelus. Have you downloaded it yet? Are you using the many treasures contained within? I love this app! Let me know if I can help you with it. Being a faithful steward involves action. We cannot simply hold onto the deposit of faith and do nothing. What can we do, and how does it involve our children? That will be the topic of our next conversation. See you then. Your fellow servant in Christ, Chris Dear Jesus, in everything I say and in everything I do, in everything today may it glorify you!

From Msgr. Frank Chiodo My Dear Parishioners, On the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, I invite you to take a moment to renew your commitment to Christ, made so long ago in your name, probably by your godparents. In fact everyday it is good to begin with a word of renewed baptismal commitment by saying; Lord this is your day, show me the way to see you more clearly, follow you more nearly, and love you more dearly day by day by day. Amen. Have a Blessed week. Notes from the Parish Office To all Men and young Men who have made their confirmation and are interested in serving, we invite you to become MC s and you will be inspired by the beauty and being so close to the Altar of God. Any questions, feel free to approach Monsignor, Fr Dan, the Deacons or the MC s of the Mass you attend. You can also reach Pat Connolly at 515-238-8346 or kinvaragalway@gmail.com.
