Dear Parishioners, A blessed Advent! In an effort to make this a meaningful new season, I encourage you to take advantage of a variety of opportunities for spiritual enrichment, including, the Advent/Christmas Novena at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary. As the name suggests, this is nine-day event that highlights the themes of the season: Waiting, watching, longing. The liturgy consists of scripture, prayer, a re lective homily and music lead by the seminary choir. It begins each evening in the seminary s Chapel of St. Joseph (5200 Glennon Drive, St. Louis, MO 63119) at 7:00 and lasts less than an hour. And while it would certainly enhance one's experience to attend the entire novena, it is not necessary to do so. Each evening's service is complete unto itself, but as the days move closer to Christmas, the prayers become ever more pointed in asking God to come quickly to his people. It is a lovely devotional practice to keep these days holy; they serve as a sobering contrast to so much of the frenetic activity that makes up the commercialized pre- Christmas season. The seminary is relatively close a 25 minute drive from Holy Infant, and the preaching is usually of the highest quality; preachers include the rector of the seminary, the dean of students and the vocation director. The irst service is Wednesday, December 5th, running each evening at 7:00 through Thursday, December 13th. Our own Fr. Don Anstoetter will lead the Novena on Sunday, December 9 th. Everyone is most welcome to join our seminarians for any of all of the nine evenings of prayer and worship in preparation for Christmas. Here is the complete schedule: Wednesday, December 5 Ecce Rex Veniet Fr. Fadi Auro, Assistant Professor of Philosophy Thursday, December 6 O Sapientia Fr. Jason Schumer, Vice-Rector - Glennon Friday, December 7 O Adonai Archbishop Robert J. Carlson Saturday, December 8 O Radix Jesse Fr. James Mason, President-Rector Sunday, December 9 O Clavis David Fr. Donald Anstoetter, Director of Worship Monday, December 10 O Oriens Bishop Robert Hermann, Spiritual Director Tuesday, December 11 O Rex Gentium Deacon George Staley, Theology IV Wednesday, December 12 O Emmanuel Fr. Mirco Sosio A.V.I., Spiritual Director Thursday, December 13 O Virgo Virginum Fr. Paul Hoesing, Dean of Seminarians Our seminary is a great gift to the Archdiocese. This is a wonderful opportunity as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. God s blessings to you and your families, Ministry of the Month: Men s Faith in Ac on Jesus Christ declared that fathers are to be the spiritual leaders of their families. The role that men play as fathers and husbands is cri cal to a good marriage and a strong family. The Men s Faith in Ac on team is dedicated in helping men become the best father and husband they can be. We have created and sponsor Px90, Tuesdays with HIM, and the 7th grade boys and girls night out with their fathers. We will add more spiritual growth opportuni es for Holy Infant men in the future. Let us know if you would like to help create opportuni es for men to be courageous spiritual leaders in their families and community. If you are interested in joining our ministry or want more informa on just email or call Jon Nienas at nienas@a.net or 314-239-7917.
