Ninth Sunday after Pentecost August 6, 2017 10:00 A.M. Green Prelude (You are invited to a time of quiet preparation for worship during the prelude.) Ringing of the Bell Welcome and Informal Moments Introit *Call to Worship L: Blessed be the light the Lord shines upon us. P: Praise be to God! L: Blessed be all creatures upon the earth who God has given us. P: Praise be to God! L: Blessed be each mountain, river, and valley that God has created for us. P: Let us praise God with our hearts, souls, and voices! *Opening Hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful No. 63 Unison Prayer of Confession and Lord s Prayer Dear Lord, we come to you today hungry in spirit. We have consumed your love and have been filled by your Holy Spirit but sometimes fail to share that love and spirit with others. Help us to fill others with your Holy Spirit so that they may not feel empty and lacking in nourishment. We know your love is boundless and we work to spread that love through all of our sisters and brothers. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray saying, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into

temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and glory, forever. Amen. Announcements If you have a prayer request, please enter it in the book at the rear of the sanctuary. The book will be brought forward during the first hymn. Today: Rev. Josh goes to Pilgrim Lodge Camp this week. August 7: Game Night 6 pm August 13: Communion Worship 10:00 am Bible Study 7:00 pm A REWARDING OPPORTUNITY IF YOU LIKE TO DRIVE! Lincoln County FISH (Friends in Service Helping) is a volunteer driving service for residents of Lincoln County. All rides are free, with drivers donating their time, vehicle and gas. The destinations (both distance and purpose) are only limited by drivers willingness. Once a request is received (LC FISH phone is 350-9808), all the drivers are notified by a group email. Drivers do not have a quota in any given time period and each driver determines his or her availability. Given the demographics and geography of our area, there is a huge need and our requests are growing. (We did 160 rides in May and 143 in June with anywhere from 10 to 20 new people requesting rides each month.) So, we are always looking for more drivers. If this ministry speaks to you, please call or email Edie Vaughan 677-6085, evaughan@tidewater.net for more information. And of course, we hope you ll spread the word to anyone who might need a ride. THANK YOU!
