Loving God! Loving People! Loving Life! Message Notes No Ordinary Family Part Four Life Church Smyrna Sunday, November 26, 2017 10:30am Pastor Shell Osbon Matthew 5:10-12 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (NKJV) 1. You Can Expect Persecution Matthew 5:10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake... (NKJV) John 15:18-19 18 If the world hates you, remember that it hated Me first. 19 The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. (NLT) 2 Timothy 3:12...everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. (NLT) 1 Peter 4:12 Dear friends, don t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. (NLT) 1 Peter 3:17 You are better off to obey God and suffer for doing right than to suffer for doing wrong. (CEV) 1 Peter 4:16,19 16 But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by His name! 19 So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for He will never fail you. (NLT) 3. You Can Endure Persecution Matthew 5:12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (NKJV) Isaiah 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, (NKJV) 1 John 4:4 But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. (NLT) 2. You Can Embrace Persecution Acts 5:40b-42 40 They called in the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them never again to speak in the name of Jesus, and they let them go. 41 The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus. 42 And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: Jesus is the Messiah. (NLT) The big idea: God can help you have a super family!
