SERMON OUTLINE A Christian Character (p2) Matthew 5:3-12 Introduction 5. The Merciful Blessed are the merciful, (v 7). Micah 6:8 Joseph and his brothers (Genesis. 50:20). for they will be shown mercy (v 7). (Matthew. 6:14 cf. 18:23-35). 6. The Pure in Heart Blessed are the pure in heart, (v 8). inward purity (Psalm. 24:3-4a) and (Psalm. 51: 6,10). single minded devotion to God (Psalm.86:11) and (James.4:8). sincerity (Psalm. 24:4b). for they will see God (v 8). (2 Corinthians. 3:18). 7. The Peacemakers Blessed are the peacemakers, (v 9). called to peace (1 Corinthians.7:15). seek peace and pursue it (1 Peter. 3:11). live peaceably with everybody as far as is possible (Romans. 12:18). for they will be called sons of God. (v 9). Peace making is the Father s work (Colossians. 1:20). 8. Those Persecuted for Righteousness Sake Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, (v 10). DAILY PRAYER GUIDE 1. MALAYSIA a. Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad recently launched the 5-year National Anti- Corruption Plan (NACP) that outlines 22 strategies and 115 initiatives. Pray that the Government will have the political will and courage to ensure that the NACP is implemented to the letter so that all form of corruptions in both the public and the private sectors are addressed. b. Although the Opposition Party won the recent Cameron Highlands Parliamentary Byelection, the victor, Ramli Mohd Ali, made history in being the first Orang Asli to be elected as a member of Parliament. Pray that Ramli Mohd Ali will not only be a worthy representative of his constituents in Cameron Highlands, he will also be a bold spokesman of the Orang Asli community in Parliament. Pray that the Pakatan Harapan coalition will review its loss and take stock to correct its weaknesses to serve the people more effectively. c. Pray for the Lord s hand to be upon our Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and cause him to have favour with all the cabinet ministers to work harmoniously and to serve the nation with integrity and accountability. d. Pray that the government will continue to carry out the institutional reforms of the three branches of administration, while upholding multiculturalism and inclusiveness in practice and governance. 2. Yemeni War Thank God for the United Nations brokered cease fire between the government forces and Iran-aligned Houthi rebels. The residents had confirmed that there had been no more fighting. Pray that even as the peace talk is taking place, for the Lord s intervention to cause both sides to be favorable to think of the interests of the nation and people to end the war for good. 3. Missing Persons Cases 13 February 2019 marked the second year of the disappearance without a trace of Pastor Raymond Koh. The families of Pastor Raymond Koh and Amri Che Mat submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, calling for a new investigation into the disappearance of the duo and two other individuals. Pray for the Prime Minister that compassion will move him to direct the Police to initiate a new investigation into the disappearance of the four persons so as to bring about closure for the families concern. Mission Prayer Items 1) MCPP1 Training (February 23-24 Grand Kampar Hotel) MCPP1 (Mission Candidate Preparation Program) is a program aimed to prepare participants for short term mission trips. To date we have 23 registered participants. Pray for: 1) Journey mercies for both trainers (from DUMC KL) and all participants as they travel to Kampar for this training. 2) Pray for God s presence to reside in the seminar room and the Holy Spirit to minister, to reveal and to guide both trainers and participants throughout this seminar. May His will be done! 3) Pray for God s hedge of protection upon all that are involved in this training that nothing will hinder them from attending. 2) Peter & Angie Seow (Missionaries in Papua) Peter & Angie have been serving in Papua for the past 14 years working on bible translation work among the Walaks. Pray for: 1) Clarity of mind, strength, wisdom, peace and joy as they worked hard to complete their first One Story project for printing to be ready for the launching in the coming April s dedication service. 2) Walaks, non-walaks and all that attend the Dedication Service of One Story Launch will be a reminder of God s Faithfulness and Power. May His name be glorified in Papua among the Walaks. 3) Liberton Kirk (CGMC Alliance Church) Liberton Kirk is a church in Edinburgh Scotland that we partner with to encourage and sharpen each other in mission works through sharing of mission outreach ideas and upholding each other in prayer. Pray for: 1) Brexit - Wisdom for the leaders in UK to act wisely and be united to protect the country from a no deal situation and all its consequences. 2) The 2 new outreaches this year are the preschool mothers group & IT support group. Pray that these works will be effective in reaching out to a wider community and that God will provide volunteers that can help to start and sustain these works. 3) Holy Habits succession course to Alpha. Pray that this course will bring people into full commitment to Jesus and be active members within the church. 4) Their neighbouring church of Liberton Northfield to be able to find a new minister and treasurer to lead and strengthen the church leadership.
