John A. Behnke THE LIFE OF THE CHURCH SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST May the peace of Christ be with you. And also with you. Greet one another with the peace of Christ. HYMN #143 Angels, from the Realms of Glory *ADVENT WREATH LIGHTING *HYMN #92 While We Are Waiting, Come Verse 1 (As the first candle is lit) On the first Sunday of Advent we lit a candle for Hope. (As the second candle is lit) Our second a candle was lit for Peace. (As the third, pink, candle is lit) Our third candle was lit for Joy. This week we light our candle for the last Sunday of Advent, the candle for love. (The fourth candle is lit) This is the love we search for: the love that gives without counting the cost, the love that weaves compassion and justice together, the love that endures when the going is rough, the love that was revealed in the in the life and sacrifice of Jesus, the love that lights up the family circle, the love that searches out and defines our faith community, 3

Love that hugs a family close, Love that shows itself in caring and Encouragement at work and at school, Love that breaks out in laughter, and is felt in the silence of friendship, Love within us, Love around us, Love that builds up, a Love that shines out as we act for the powerless and the innocent, and work for the world renewed in the spirit of Christ we pray. *HYMN #92 While We Are Waiting, Come Verse 1 By David Sparks, Summerland, British Columbia. DECEMBER IS A SPECIAL MONTH Every month belongs to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit but December is more special because we celebrate the birth of Jesus and because of His birth we give more gifts than in any other month of the year. As part of your Christmas celebrations, please remember those less fortunate who need our help, love and support. At RLPC there will be many chances to do this by contributing to various offerings, projects, and funds. One of these which our denomination sponsors is the Christmas Joy Offering. This offering provides assistance for those who have dedicated their lives to the service of the church and supports leadership development and education at Presbyterian-related racial ethnic schools and colleges and will be received this morning. Please give this offering your prayerful consideration. EXPLORING GOD S FUTURE FOR ROCK LAKE CHURCH is the purpose for the time of prayer, every Monday, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm. Everyone who is available at that time is invited to join us in our sanctuary. If you cannot be with us in person, we hope wherever you are on Mondays at that time will join us by asking God for guidance about RLPC s future. If you have questions, please call our pastor, Rick McGuire, 304-533-6008. AN INVITATION TO ALL CHURCH MEMBERS, FAMILY AND FRIENDS to join the Music Department in Christmas Caroling Monday, December 22 at 6:30 to our home bound church members. We will meet in the Music Room at 6:30. Bring a flashlight. Music will be provided. Join us in sharing the music and celebration of the season with members of our church family. THESE DAYS DAILY DEVOTION BOOKLETS for January/February/March are available in the narthex. Please feel free to take one. PLEASE REMEMBER TO SIGN UP to benefit RLPC through the Kroger Community Awards Program. Go to kroger.com, create an online account, enter your Kroger Plus card number, go to the Community tab and choose Rock Lake Presbyterian Church. 27 people have already signed up, resulting in RLPC to receive a check for $603.35 by year end. Please call Kay Rotz at 304-768-8996 if you have any questions. 7
