We need one more host family If you have warm winter clothing that you would like to contribute to this year s Make-A-Difference-Day drive, please contact Stephen Wise for details regarding how to do so. We have bins to collect winter clothing at Edward Jones Investment, Paul s Big M. Of particular need is winter clothing for pre-teens. If you intend to volunteer for any Rotary Youth Exchange/Student activities, you must first obtain and submit a Rotarian Volunteer Application and Background Check Form. If you need this form, please contact President Dave Granoff or Sabine Ingerson. On October 28 at 6-8 PM, Oswego Reads will be hosting NY Times bestselling author, Greg Mortenson, at the SUNY Oswego Campus Center to speak about his work in Afghanistan and Pakistan through his book, 3 Cups of Tea. Oswego Reads (a new community organization made up of SUNY Oswego, the Oswego City School District, the Oswego Public Library, the River s End Bookstore, plus a number of additional businesses and arts groups from our community) expects that the event will be a sellout. If you are interested in helping out at this event by ushering, please contact Bill Crist. Ushers would need to be present by 5:30 PM. Our up-coming Pasta Dinner will be held November 2 nd. This is one of our major fund ( and fun) raisers and let s make it a huge success Please try to remember to bring spare change to our weekly luncheon meetings so that you can contribute to our Pennies for Polio campaign by putting it in the collection can that will be sitting on each table. Paul (P.J.) Scott has asked for our assistance in helping out with the District Conference (to be held in May 2011) and participating in the conference committee. If you are interested, please let President Dave Granoff know and he will pass along your name. 2

Please keep in mind our club s goal of 100% participation in annual donations to the Rotary Foundation. Please consider contributing to the Rotary Foundation if you haven t yet done so. All contributions are welcome. Members who have programs to sponsor for any of our luncheon meetings are asked to contact Sue Witmer, Dave Welsch, or Dave Granoff. Today s Program: Sue Witmer introduced Tom Simmonds, Associate Vice President for Facilities for SUNY Oswego. Tom presented a detail overview of the development of the Eastside Campus of SUNY Oswego in his talk. Some of the highlights of the $300+ million SUNY Oswego initiative include the recent completion of the Village Townhouses, the Science and Education Atrium Plans, and the Sheldon Hall restoration.
