From Bethesda Society... Dear Members of the Presbyterian Church, Thank you so very much for providing the good program and for the delicious lunch for our September 2017 Bethesda Society Meeting. We sincerely appreciate your willingness to participate in our Bethesda Society. God s Blessing to each of you. From the daughters of Toni Shields... Thank you so much for all your prayers and opening your church to my family as we celebrated the life of our mother, Toni Shields. Our mom had spoken fondly about your church when she came on Good Friday and expressed her desire to attend your church but her cancers got the best of her. Thank you, Pastor Homan for the beautiful service and your kindness. A special thank you to the Praise Team for playing her favorite songs during our celebration of her life. God bless, Robin Hensley and Cari Kincannon

5 www.firstpresgf.org First Presbyterian Church October 2017 October is Stewardship Drive Month! The end of 2017 is coming into view. We have had a very big year! Our membership is growing. Children are starting to fill the Sunday morning class rooms. The committees have been busy working to make our church a growing and welcoming place for anyone and everyone who walks through the door. It won t be long now and the challenge budget will be in your hands. Every committee has wonderful project goals and ideas. Wouldn t it be wonderful if all of the dreams we have could come true? You can help make that happen! In October you will have the opportunity to complete a pledge card for the year 2018. This card does not represent a bill you owe, but a commitment you make in your heart to support our ministry and outreach. All support is helpful. Pray about what you can do to support your church. Turn in your pledge card by October 31st so the Finance committee can plan a 2018 budget that meets not only the needs of the church building, but the growing congregation that uses it.

6 www.firstpresgf.org First Presbyterian Church October 2017 Celebrating 14 Years of Apple Fest! Can you believe we will be hosting Apple Fest on October 28 th from 8 am to Noon for the fourteenth time this year? Amazing? Of course, Blue Moose Executive Chef Nathan Sheppard will be here with his famous pancakes? The pancake breakfast will be served from 8-12. Come early and have both breakfast and lunch!!! We are hoping to have a bigger selection of Baked Goods for the Bake Sale. This has been a very popular, so we need lots of donations. It does not have to be related to apples, any recipe goes. We would like you to price your items by 25 cent increments, so as not to have to deal with small change. Single people like items to be a smaller amounts, so variety of sizes in a package would be helpful. Please Label your item as to whether it has nuts, or not. Gluten free items would also be appreciated. Bake sale items may be brought to the church on Friday, October 27 th during church hours. Craft items are needed to go along with the quilters efforts to make wonderful items. Please bring your craft items during the week before Apple Fest along with your suggested price. Include any special instructions if needed. Contact Lois MacGregor. The New To You items should be brought to the church on Sunday, October 22 nd or during the week Apple Fest on October 28 th. Again we will ask for a free will offering for these items, which worked out very well last year. Should any items be brand new, and if you feel it should have a special price for that item, please label it on your item. Contact Bonny Crow for more information. Please look at the bulletin and email blast for dates for picking apples and for making pies. Lefse making will take place on October 13 th and 14 th. There are a few remaining jobs yet to be filled, do you have your job? See Barb Beach. Do you have your quilt raffle ticket yet? Every year I think the quilt can t be even better than the year before, but I believe we have achieved that goal. Photo postcards are now available so that should help to sell the tickets. Speaking of tickets, we now have 125 books assigned with 25 books remaining. Get your tickets now! The drawing is noon at the close of Apple Fest. People are needed to help set up Apple Fest on Friday, October 27 th. We will start at 9am and work until finished. We will also need people to clean up the church when the event is over. Any questions please contact Barb Beach, Bonny Crow, Nancy Grove, Lois MacGregor or Susan Sheppard.
