The Newsletter of Maury Baptist Association, Inc. Running the Race Volume 56, Issue 1 - Nov / Dec 2014 Moderator: Richard VanCleave, Treasurer: Suz Gagneur Well, the dust has settled around the MBA office as we reflect on this year s annual meeting. Due to the changing times, we tried something different this year. Since we do nearly all of our business at the monthly Executive Board meetings, our annual meeting was streamlined and we focused primarily on worship. I can still remember those moments as we sang praises to our King and heard a challenging message from the Word. Focusing on the King and His Word well, that s about all we need isn t it? We want to thank Thompson Station for hosting us, Chip Leake for organizing and leading our worship, and Dr. Steve Livengood for bringing us a very timely, spiritual message. Many thanks to Rosemary for organizing and making all the arrangements. Aside from some needed improvements in communication, all indications are that the new format was a success. We ll do our best to reevaluate and implement improvements where needed for next year. Other news... With this in mind, SAVE THE DATE for the 93rd ANNUAL MEETING Tuesday, October 20, 2015; 7 pm @ First Baptist Spring Hill. We re working even now on mission projects for next year. If you have ideas or connections, please let me know. We re already looking at East TN in July and Alaska in August and/or September. We have a request from one of our newest church plants, Blessed Hope, for one of our MBA churches to adopt them. This will allow them to open an account at LifeWay and lead to other opportunities as well. Finally, it s with a heavy heart that I need to inform you that Bob Adair, retired pastor from Highland Park, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. He has been such a great friend to our association and to me personally for many years. He and his wife Deborah s spirits are high and their attitude is exemplary but they covet your prayers as well. As I close, please remember our annual Banquet for Ex Board members on Friday, December 5, 6:30 pm at Rock Springs. Invitations have been sent out and please RSVP before December 1st. I ll be traveling to Michigan for Thanksgiving with my wife s family this year. I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and Spirit-filled holiday season. Blessings, Dale
