In our Lenten journey we will examine the themes of mercy and forgiveness as we study the many stories such as the prodigal son and the good Samaritan. Where: St. John s lower church When: Wednesdays 7-8:30pm March 13-Apr 10 St John ~ St Joseph Catholic Collaborative BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY Jesus wept at the tomb of his friend. Let me, also, Lord, share my grief with you. Release the tension bottling up inside me, and grant me freedom from pain and new life in healing with each tear I shed. Each teardrop of pain is precious in your sight, O Lord. I offer my tears in honor of my loved one and for love of you. Bless all who mourn, that they be comforted. We are in the process of beginning our St John~ St Joseph Catholic Collaborative Bereavement Ministry. Our wish is to reach out to all in our parishioners that have experienced a loss. The plan is for a seven-week program which meets weekly for one- and one-half hours. An important piece of our planning is to inquire what day and time best meets the needs of our parishioners. If you are interested and feel a bereavement group would be of benefit to you or someone you know you will find at the rear of the church a brief questionnaire regarding preferred days and times for these meetings. You can return completed questionnaires in the box at the door of the church or you could mail your completed questionnaires to St. Joseph church at the address given on the form. Or, if you wish, you can send your replies and any questions you may have to the email address at the bottom of the form.

FEBRUARY 24, 2019 February 24 ~ Seventh Sunday of Ordinary Time Jesus words today make it very clear how we are live as his followers. Love your enemies do good to those who curse you... pray for those who mistreat you... give to everyone who asks of you (and) don t demand it back Stop judging Forgive and you will be forgiven. Jesus doesn t lighten our responsibility, rather, he restates his teaching emphasizing that the extent to which we are willing to follow/live his words is what will be returned to us. Ask Christ to help you this week to put his words into action in your life. Notice the difference it makes in your relationships. Now more than ever, our priests, seminarians and those contemplating the call to serve Our Lord need our prayers. Here a St Joseph Parish we have a way for you to do your part to support these men who have proven to be our good shepherds and those in training or contemplating the call to be a good shepherd. The vocation crucifix is available to be signed out by individuals or families for one week. Take it home and pray the vocation prayer daily. The sign up sheet is in the entrance of the church. The process is easy. Choose your week, sign the sheet. When your week arrives pick up the crucifix in the sacristy when you come to mass. Please return the crucifix to the sacristy before the 4 pm mass on Saturday so it will be available for the next person. The Vocation Crucifix has been signed out by the following parishioner (s) for the weeks of: Feb. 24th Mark Wilson Mar. 3rd Chickie Abdallah St. Joseph s church building will now be open from 9AM to 3PM weekdays (Mon Fri). This is your sacred space to pray, reflect, Stations of The Cross. Feel free to stop in. ST. JOSEPH FOOD PANTRY: HOURS: The pantry is open on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 7:30PM for our neighbors in need (located in rectory conference room). Donations may be brought to Mass on Saturday/Sunday. Thank you for your support with all non-perishable food items and cash donations.

FEBRUARY 24, 2019 SNOW CAMPS COOKIE WEEKEND- Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, May the Lord give us His peace. Amazing!! I am so happy to say that last weekend s Snow CAMPS chocolate chip cookie fundraiser, run in both of our parishes, brought in over $4500. Your TREMENDOUS GEN- EROSITY helped to fund nine middle schoolers, two parents, one high school staff and two children under 11 from our Collaborative. All of them will now have the opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ in a deeply personal and life changing way. It was so wonderful to see the outpouring of support, affirmation and encouragement coming from our communities. The young people felt loved, accepted and affirmed. This is the beginning of affiliative faith, where young people feel proud to be connected with a church community. Thank you for your beautiful witness and generosity. Another tremendous fruit of the day s activity was the beginning of an intentional middle school community that included parents, children and other parishioners. These young people worked together for almost twenty-four hours, and had a lot of fun in the process. They worked hard, played hard, prayed hard, and shared a meal together. Recruiting this many middle schoolers would not have been possible without the leadership and guidance of Francesca Alberti. She is a high school senior from St. Mary s in Lynn. I have worked in ministry with her mother for many years, and known Francesca for her entire life; she is a special young lady. In order to keep the momentum of our (beginning) middle school ministry, along with the hopes of beginning a high school ministry, I have asked Francesca to take a lead role in developing our youth ministry efforts before heading off to Franciscan University to study psychology and youth ministry in the fall. We are blessed to have her (look at the fruit already), and I am happy to say that she wrote the Snow CAMPS thank you in this weekend s bulletin. That is all for now. Thank you again for making last weekend so special. Your brother in Christ, Fr. Matt+
