Peace Lutheran Church FREMONT, INDIANA November Newsletter, 2014 A NATIONAL DAY OF WHAT? The suggestion has been made that we have a National Day of Grumbling? We could gripe and complain all we wanted. It would be an easy day to celebrate. Maybe it would be a good idea then we cold get it out of out system and be more positive the rest of the year. Others have suggested that we don t need one since every day is a day of grumbling for so many people. However, we do have a National Day of Thanksgiving. This becomes important because so many people are not thankful any other day. And unfortunately, many feel that this one day puts them in a good shape for the rest of the year. No one has suggested that if we did not have Thanksgiving Day, people would be more thankful every other day. Celebrating Thanksgiving is difficult. Many now call it Turkey Day, which perhaps more clearly represents what the day is all about for so many people. We have a tough time being thankful. Grumbling comes naturally while Thanksgiving must be learned. I read about a grandmother who was walking along the beach with her grandson. A wave came in and washed him out from shore. The grandmother prayed quickly for the safety of the child. Soon after, another wave came and deposited the child safely back on shore. Then Grandma, looked over the situation, and then looked toward the sky and snapped, When we came, he had a hat. Why are we so hard to please? Why do we have to grumble so often? Maybe we think we deserve more than God has given to us. God blessed us each day and has even given His own Son to die for our sins. The blessings of heaven await us and we complain. May God help us realize all the blessings we have from God and to think about them with thanksgiving but not only on Thanksgiving but each morning and each evening every day of the year. You are invited to worship with us on Thanksgiving eve at 7:00 PM as we have a special worship service to offer our thanks to God and to celebrate all He has done in our lives. Thankful for each of you, SPECIAL THANKSGIVING EVE WORSHIP WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 26 7 PM

Gen. James JJ Jackson 4) Go fast go alone; Go far go together Gen. Herbert Hawk Carlisle 5) Lead Own your Purpose in Life Gen. Darren McDew Takeaway: God presents Himself to us in the form of the Trinity Father, Son and Holy Spirit all who commune together within the Godhead. God created us in His own image to be in relationship with Him and with His beloved children. God calls us to walk with Him by trusting Him and not the worldly things around us. Trusting in God gives Him glory, which is our purpose for life. For more see 2 Timothy 1:7. Preschool & Daycare Ministry at Peace Lutheran Church Nurturing Young Hearts for Christ OCTOBER 2014 THANK YOU! THANK YOU! The generosity of Peace members continues to be awesome! Because of you we are able to provide quality care and education for the children of our community, from infants to school-age children. We are also so thankful to have this wonderful facility and dedicated people who take care of it. Wee Creations is especially excited because our classes are full. It has been a busy month at Wee Creations! We began our school year with an Open House and Ice Cream Social. The evening was a great opportunity for the families to meet each other, meet our staff, and see our facility. The first day of preschool went smoothly and it was great fun to see how much the children have grown over the summer and to welcome new friends to our program. We have enjoyed getting back into our regular routines. We especially enjoy our visits with Pastor B. and Pastor Chad during Chapel. They are always so energetic! We also enjoy when Pastor Chad brings his guitar (and sometimes his boys) to sing and dance with us! The children look forward to seeing both Pastors each week. We think it is so wonderful that we have not one, but two Pastors who regularly express their love for our children and share God s Word with them too! We are very thankful to our Wee Creations Board members. They are a very important part of our ministry. We are currently searching for a few more board members to join our ranks. Please, would you consider committing to one hour per month to serve? If you are interested, please see any board member or myself! Come and visit us anytime!! Keep us in your prayers as we reach out to our families of Wee Creations, and thank you again for your continued support! SHOEBOX PACKING DAY SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2 Operation Christmas Child! On this Sunday, we will be packing shoeboxes with small inexpensive gifts for the suffering children of the world. Each box will contain not only presents, but the gospel message of hope in the recipient s native language. Missionaries living in the villages and towns where the boxes are distributed will tell the children about Jesus and lead VBS-type programs to help them get to know Him better. Many people are impacted dramatically by these simple shoebox gifts. OCC Relay Center - 8th Year at Peace!!! From November 17-24, our church will be serving as a place where other churches, groups, and individuals can bring their completed shoe boxes. We will be open specified hours during the week. If you are interested in helping at the relay center, please sign up at the information desk or speak to Donna Biddle, 260-833-9003. Peace members and friends have been very generous with this project in the past. God has blessed your work and generosity all over the world. It will be fun to see what happens again this year. Thank you in advance!
