November 22, 2015 Feast of Christ the King Jesus answered, My kingdom does not belong to this world. (John 18:36) How often do we put all our time and energy into building a kingdom here on earth, forgetting that life here is short? The real kingdom is in the next life. Yet, how much time and energy do we invest in working for that eternal kingdom? Good question: How much energy do we A lot of Christians are like wheelbarrows--not good unless pushed. Some are like canoes--they need to be paddled. Some are like kites--if you don't keep a string on them, they fly away. Some are like kittens--they are more contented when petted. Some are like a football--you can't tell which way they will bounce next. Some are like balloons--full of wind and ready to blow up. Some are like trailers--they have to be pulled. Some are like lights--they keep going off and on, And there are those who always seek to let the Holy Spirit lead them! TRUE STEWARDSHIP The gospel message proclaimed throughout the New Testament invites us to live in harmony with the world. This is a challenge to care for the world and be stewards of all that God has given us. Like generations before us, we are entrusted with the care of the earth so that generations to follow may enjoy the same gifts. Sometimes, however, we are absorbed into the ways of the world. When we are of the world, we rely heavily on the power of wealth, beauty, fame, and accumulation of material possessions. We want earthly possessions and carelessly turn our hearts from the responsibilities of stewardship and conservation. The readings today challenge us to walk away from the world so that we might inherit our share of God s kingdom. How we live our lives directly reflects our love for God. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.

These areas are covered in our Catholic Focus class every Sunday morning at 9:45 AM in the Catholic Focus room in the Faith Formation building. We receive our lessons for the week (on a monthly basis) via email--to download and prepare for the lesson on the following Sunday. The lessons are based on the Mass Scriptures for that particular week. We have a catechist that leads the class as we ponder and discuss how the Scriptures encourage us to actually "LIVE AND APPLY THEIR UNDERSTANDING TO THE MANNER IN WHICH WE LIVE OUR LIVES". Adults of all ages are welcome. We look forward to meeting and greeting you as we grow in our knowledge of God's Calling in our lives-to become the Disciples and Stewards we are "called" to be. Please stop by and see for yourselves. RCIA This week RCIA takes a break for the holiday. May you and your family have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.
