This is a weekly, lectionary-based Bible study. The Lectionary is a list of scripture readings scheduled to be read at a church service. Grace uses lectionary readings both for its worship services and for its Sunday School lessons. The study will use the same lectionary texts but two weeks advanced (so February 7 will cover February 18 texts). This Wednesday the texts are Genesis 9:8-17; Psalm 25:1-10; 1 Peter 3:18-22; Mark 1:9-15. Please advise the church office at 403.244.5861 or office@gracecalgary.org if you plan to attend. Volunteer Opportunities at Grace English Language Learners (ELL) Program Volunteers - Our ELL program has been so popular that we are in need of additional volunteers to help newcomers to Canada improve their spoken English language skills. The program runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9:30 am to noon. Ushers Needed Ushering teams help welcome worshippers, direct newcomers around the building, receive and count the offering, read the offertory prayers, and help with emergencies. Sunday School and High School Class Helpers Needed - The Grace family delights in the presence of the children and is thankful for our vibrant Sunday School. Helpers are needed to assist our dedicated teachers by being present once a month to help the children with class activities. No lesson planning is required. Self Service Coffee Volunteer Request We continue to request volunteers to assist after the morning service with setup of the self-service coffee stations. We are looking for two or three people to help each Sunday. If you can help, please sign the list posted in the Family Room. Thank you! Complete instructions for setting up the coffee stations can be found in the kitchen. Please contact Cindy Stephenson, Coordinator of Volunteers, at 403.244.5861 or cindys@gracecalgary.org if you would like to learn more. Upcoming Worship Services TONIGHT, Sunday, February 4, 2018 Evening Grace, 7:00 pm 7:50 pm in the Chapel Preaching: Roberto DeSandoli

Sunday, February 11, 2018 10:30 am Preaching: Jean Morris A service recognizing the ministry of the Women's Fellowship. Leadership in worship will be offered by members of the Women's Fellowship. Ash Wednesday, February 14, 2018 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm in the Chapel Ashes to Go 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm Ministry staff at Grace will be on the front steps of Grace offering Ashes to Go to our Beltline neighbours following the worship service in the Chapel. The receiving of ashes is open to everyone who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ as well as those who strive to. Ashes (a mixture of burnt palm branches and oil) are placed cross shaped on the receiver s forehead by the leader s thumb, accompanied by the instruction to remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return. Though this practice and these words may seem strange at first, they are meant as a prayerful, somber, and ultimately peaceful reminder that even though this life is temporary, in Jesus Christ we have eternal life. Sunday, February 18, 2018 10:30 am An intergenerational service of children and adults together in worship Evening Grace: Local Preaching, Local Witness Evening Grace is an evening worship service held every first and third Sunday of the month from 7:00 to 7:50pm in the Chapel. Thankful for Children We are thankful for the presence of infants and children in our sanctuary, though if you wish, we do offer programming for kids during the service. Nursery Care is available for children age 3 and younger; an usher can lead you to the Nursery at any time. Weekly programs are available for all children up to Grade 12. Sunday School - Sunday School is available for children age 4 to Grade 6. This morning, the Sunday School children will learn about sharing God s grace through acts of love and service, and how acts of service can be acts of gratitude! They will discover how God s message is shown through Jesus work of healing, praying, and preaching. For more information about our children s programs and teaching teams, please contact Joanne, Interim Sunday School Coordinator, at joannek@gracecalgary.org or 403.244.5861. Youth Group - All youth in Grades 7 to 12 are invited to join us for fellowship and conversation. We sit in the Sanctuary near the piano and will depart for the downstairs Youth Group room following the Conversation with Young Christians. Please see an usher if you are uncertain about finding this room. For more information, please contact Roberto DeSandoli, Young Adult Ministry Coordinator, at robertod@gracecalgary.org or 403.244.5861.
