Lesson for July 5, 1997 CONSECRATION FOR SERVICE Scripture Reading: Romans 12. Memory Verse: Romans 12:1. 1. What was Paul s expressed desire of the Church of God at Rome? Romans 12:1. 2. What should they do? What transformation was recommended? Romans 12:2. NOTE: All the sacrifices required in the old dispensation were living ones; then while they were offered they died. So with us; we oiler ourselves as living sacrifices, then we become dead to sin, but alive unto righteousness. 3. What was-the process of consecration in the days of Moses? Leviticus 8:1-3, 6, 12, 30. NOTE: Though this seems a mechanical way of consecration, it was God's way, and there was something vital about it which we shall now see. 4. NOTE: Multitudes of people confess that the Messiah came to the earth in the flesh, but few understand the very important reality of His dwelling in our flesh. In order to be saved, we must have Him within us. It is in our flesh that the world sees Christ 12. When we have the Son, what do we have? 1 John 5:11-13. NOTE: He that hath the Son hath life --- (to have Him in our very being. Then we let this mind be in us which is in Christ As long as we do this, we will not sin as no evil comes from Him. 13. In this condition, what will our purpose be for living? John 15:8. 14. What important place do we occupy here? Matthew 5:13-16.

Was Hezekiah healed when he was sick unto death? Isaiah 38:1; 2 Kings 20:5-10. 3. What did Isaiah prophesy concerning healing? Isaiah 53:5. 4. Were all diseases healed by prayer alone? Matthew 17:21. 5. To whom did Jesus give power to heal the sick? Luke 9:1-6; James 5:14, 15. 6. How many of the sick that came to Jerusalem were healed? Acts 5:15, 16. 7. Besides preaching the gospel, what other great work was done by Paul and Barnabas? Acts 14:7-10, 8. Do you think that Jesus has changed? Lesson for August 9, 1997 THE FALL OF MAN Scripture Reading: Isaiah 59 Memory Verse: Romans 3:23. 1. What is the definition of sin? 1 John 3:4; James 4:17. 2. Which sin caused man to fell from his perfect estate? Genesis 3:1-7. NOTE: The first commandment broken was the first sin. "The Lord God commanded the man saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of j the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt, not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:16, 17. The reason God set rules and boundaries for mankind was to protect us from sin. When Adam sinned he had to face the consequences: death. 3. What was the extent of the sin and depravity of man? Ephesians 2:3; Psalms 51:5; John 3:6, 7. 4. Did the fall of man cause; the entire universe to, be depraved? Romans 3:9-12; 1 John 5:19; Isaiah 64:6.

5. How was sin discovered by the law? Romans 2:12-15; John 15:22. 6. Are sins justified by the law of God? Romans 3:20; 7:7. NOTE: The consequence of sin is death. For the wages of sin is death. Death has passed upon, every individual as the ultimate end for sins committed. 7. What is the outcome of the fallen man s life? Psalms 119:155; Jeremiah 8:20; 1 Corinthians 6:9, 10. 8. The fallen man s understanding becomes darkened, Romans, 1:28; his conscience is seared, 1Timothy 4:2; Titus 1:15; he will be enslaved, Jeremiah 13:23; 2 Timothy 3:13; he will be in constant fear, Job 18:11-15; Hebrews 10:27. Lesson for August 16, 1997 THOU SHALT NOT BOW DOWN THYSELF Scripture Reading: Acts 14:11-23, Memory Verse: Exodus 20:3. 1. Of what is the Lord our God jealous? Exodus 20:3-5. 2. What incident is related in Acts 12:22 and 23? 3. Is it acceptable to worship men and angels? Revelation 19:10; Colossians 2:18; Revelation 22:8, 9. 4. Did the Apostle Peter refuse to be worshipped? Acts 10:25, 26. 5. When did the Apostles, Paul and Barnabas, restrain the people from worshipping them? Acts 14:11-18. 6. Lesson for August 23, 1997 LET THE LIGHT SHINE Scripture Reading: 1 John 2:1-17. Memory Verse: John 8:12. 1. Who is the light of the world? How shall those walk who follow after the light?

John 8:12; 9:3. 2. How did Jesus let His light shine? Acts 10:38. 3. What is said of the cities He visited? Matthew 4:16. 4. What did Jesus say of His people? For what purpose do men place lights in dark places? Matthew 3:14, 15. 5. How are the people of the Lord to make-use of the light which God has given them? Verse 16; 2 Corinthians 4:6, 7. 6. What danger threatens those who do not walk in the light? John 12:35, 36. 7. How was the Apostolic Church to be the light of world? Acts 1:8. 8. What great commission is given to God's church? Mark 16:15.. 9. What great message is to be given to the whole world before Jesus returns? Matthew 24:14; Rev. 14:6-10. 10. What does the Lord say to the people who will give such a message? What will he the result of the fobbed work? Isaiah 60:1-3. Lesson for August 30, 1997 PROPHECIES OF CHRIST S COMING Scripture Reading: Isaiah 53. Memory Verse: Luke 18:31. 1. In what words did Moses speak of Christ? Deuteronomy 13:15. 2. How may we know' that the prophet spoken of by Moses is the Christ? Acts 3:20-24. 3. Of what wonderful sign did the prophet Isaiah.foretell? Isaiah 7:14. 4. Was this prophecy fulfilled? Luke 1:26-31; 2:7; Matthew 1:22, 23. 5. According to Micah where was Christ to be born? Micah 5:2. 6. Was this prophecy fulfilled? Matthew 2:1, 7. What prophecy concerning Jesus is found in Hosea? Hosea 11:1. 8. Was this fulfilled? Matthew 2:18, 14, 19-23. 9. most wonderfully fulfilled. Yea, even the letter. We may rest assured that the fulfilled to the letter. Lesson for September 6, 1997. WHO CHOSE JERUSALEM? Scripture Reading: Psalms 125,126 and 129. Memory Verse: Psalms 132:13. 1. What is said about the prosperity of those who love Jerusalem? Psalms 122:6. 2. In what place has the Lord promised blessings and life forevermore? Psalms 133:3; 34:3; 128:5. 3. What was said about not forgetting Jerusalem, and referring it above our chief joys? Psalms 137:5, 6. NOTE: The Jews have always been a very prosperous people, and they have never forgotten Jerusalem. Each year at the close of the Passover they shake one another s hands and say, Next year at Jerusalem. This has been their practice now for nearly 2000 years in their prolonged exile over the earth. 4. What was a special prayer of David, and when will this prayer be answered? Psalms 122:7. 5. What is said about the beauty of the situation of Mount Zion, and of city located on it? Psalms48:1-3. 6. What promise is given concerning Zion and the cites of Judah? Psalms 69:34-36. 7. What is especially said concerning Ephraim and Judah and about establishing Mount Zion forever? Psalms 78:67-69. 8. Has there been a special time set to remember and favor Zion? Psalms 102; 13. 9. Will the true servants take pleasure in Zion, and even in her stones at this time? Psalms 102:14. 10. When will this time be, and what great event will the restoration of Zion precede? THE NEW TESTAMENT STAND ON DOCTRINE Scripture Reading: Titus 2. Memory Verse: I Timothy 4:16. 1. What doctrine are we commanded to adorn? Titus 2:10; 1Timothy 6:3-6. 2. How may we know the true doctrine of God? John 7:16-11 3. What warning is given to those who know the true doctrine? 2 John 8-11 4. To what are we commanded to render attendance? 1Timothy 4:13. 5. Are we to heed or teach any other doctrine besides Christ s? I Timothy 1:3-5; Ephesians 4:14, 15. 6. What are the young admonished to do with their Christian lives? Titus 2:6-8. 7. What is one of the things necessary to hove in order to be a good minister of Jesus Christ? 1Timothy 4:6, 15, 16. 8. What other doctrines ore mentioned? Lesson for September 20, 1997 THE SPIRITUAL GIFTS Scripture reading: 1 Corinthians 12; 1-14. Memory Verse: Micah 3:8,

1. Is it the will of God that His church should know about the special gifts of the Holy Spirit? 1 Cor. 12:1 2. What is said about the diversities of gifts, and the administration of the Holy Spirit? 1 Corinthians 12:4, 5. 3. What is said about the diversities of operation and the manifestation of the Holy Spirit? 1 Corinthians 12:6, 7. NOTE: The manifestation of the Holy Spirit is given, to profit withal, and the fact that God never changes in His manner of dealing with individuals proves that this same power, which operated then in these diversities of gifts, is still being manifested among the children of God. 4. What are the first gifts mentioned, of the Holy Spirit? 1 Corinthians 12:8. 5. What is the third gift named in verse 9 (first part)? Also Romans 10:17. NOTE: It will be observed that faith is one of the special r gifts of the Spirit which comes as a consequence of the two preceding gifts of wisdom and knowledge. 6. Lesson for September 27, 1997 Miracles Scripture reading: Acts 8:5-25. Memory verse: Joshua 3:5. 1. What is one of the primary purposes of miracles? Exodus 4:5; Numbers 16:28; Exodus 19:9; John 2:3. 2. What was the purpose of the plaques on Egypt? Exodus 7:5; 9:29. 3. When the manna and the quails fell among Israel, was the Lord magnified? Exodus 16:6, 12-15. 4. Did Elijah use a miracle to show the children of Israel that the Father in Heaven was the true God? 1 Kings 18:23, 24, 37-39.

5. For what purpose was Jesus greatest miracle performed? John 11:41-45. NOTE: The working of a miracle is a wonderful thing! It may, (to mankind), seem contrary to the established laws or constitution of nature. But God is the creator of nature and its laws. Therefore God also is able to continually create and to bring into existence. Luke 18:27. 6. What did Jesus tell the nobleman who came to Him for the healing of his son? John 4:48. 7. Why did Jesus refer to Lot's wife when telling of His second coming? Luke 17:26-32. 8. Should we continue to praise the Lord and expect miracles? 2Chronicles 7:3; Matthew 15:31; Luke 5:22-26; John 14:12-14; 1 Corinthians 1:6-8. 9. After the ascension of Christ, was the gift of miracles still prevalent? Acts 3:12-16, 21; 4:9-12.
