Next week we will celebrate August birthdays! 2017 Fuel & Boiler Collection This past week we began our Annual Fuel Collection to help cover the cost of fuel and boiler repairs. This year however I have separated the envelopes over 4 consecutive months to hopefully, make it easier for everyone to contribute. I am asking our parishioners to prayerfully consider donating to this important collection (according to your means). As in past years, fuel envelopes will be collected and set aside for prize drawings. At the end of our collection we will select three winners, one $100 prize and two $50 prizes. As your pastor, I am always grateful for the financial sacrifices made by the people of our parish. It is through your generosity that our parish continues to thrive. This year s total for the Mission Co-Op Collection is $2,020.00. Deacon John has asked that we publish the following: I wish to thank the parishioners of St. Vincent de Paul parish on behalf of the Mission Co-Operative Program and the mission Diocese of Lexington Kentucky for your generosity in last weekend s special collection. The funds collected from that appeal will be designated for the Appalachian Mission Assistance Program (AMAP) in the Diocese of Lexington. Your generosity will bring much needed assistance to outreach ministries in Appalachia and eastern Kentucky. Thank you for helping us to continue the work of the Church in this region and being part of the stories, for being disciples and for being Christ through the mission work the Catholic Diocese of Lexington. Attention all children & teens: On Monday, August 14 th, 2017 Father Jacek will be going to Lake Compounce Amusement Park and he would like to invite you to come along. We will be leaving the SVP Church parking lot at 9am and returning at approximately 7pm. This year the cost of the trip will be $25.00. Anyone who would like to go is asked to sign up and fill out a permission slip. Sign-up sheets and permission slips are in the back of both churches. This trip fills up fast and we have a limited number of seats on the bus. Reserve your ticket early. Anyone who wishes to sponsor a child s trip may do so by dropping an envelope marked Lake Compounce Sponsor in the collection basket. The Office of Marriage Preparation & Enrichment is sponsoring the annual Wedding Anniversary Celebration honoring couples of the Diocese of Providence who will be observing their 25th, 40th, 50th and OVER 50 years wedding anniversaries in 2017. This year s celebration will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017, 1:00 pm at the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul, Providence and will include Mass, renewal of marriage vows, a personalized certificate for each couple and a reception for the couples and their families. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin will be the main celebrant. Couples must be in a marriage that is recognized by the church. Couples who would like to participate must fill out a form (which are at the entrance of both churches) and hand it in to Father Jacek no later than September 8th. Next Holy Hour for Life The Holy Hour for Life for the month of August will be held Monday evening August 22 nd at 7:00 PM, The Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, at St. Mary s Church, 70 Church Street, West Warwick. On that evening we will have, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, scripture readings, homily, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Litany of the Sacred Heart and Benediction. All are welcome. St. Joseph Parish, Central Falls is hosting their Annual Polish Day at the LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro, Ma. The Annual Pilgrimage to the shrine will take place on Sunday, August 20. The pilgrimage will leave St. Joseph Church in Central Falls after the 8am Mass celebrated for the pilgrims. Confessions at the Shrine will begin at 1:30pm and Mass will start at 3pm on that Sunday.
