Preparation for Worship We testify that God is faithful. Even when we are faithless, God remains faithful. The Lord still brings from oppressed and uprooted peoples riches of insight and daring visions that can judge and bless the world. We can have confidence in God s coming kingdom even in the darkest times. FROM A DECLARATION OF FAITH *GATHERING HYMN No. 447 Rock of Ages Order of Worship We Gather in God s Name *Those who are able, please stand REDHEAD Minister: People: What is the chief end of a person? L: Give ear and come to the Lord; listen, that your soul may live. P: Lord, we seek you. We call on you while you are near. MARY HAVERFIELD PRAYER of CONFESSION (UNISON) MARY HAVERFIELD O Lord, you are holy; your ways are not our ways. Your thoughts are higher than the heavens, far beyond our understanding. Yet you are faithful, providing a way out when we are tested, and setting a limit to what we must endure. We confess that we often fail to choose your way of life, squandering our substance on that which does not satisfy. Forgive us, O Lord, for every evil desire, every immoral act, every unrighteous thought. Grant us mercy and pardon, in the name of Jesus Christ, that we find delight and peace in your presence once again. ASSURANCE of PARDON REV. I came to Jesus as I was, So weary, worn, and sad; I found in him a resting place, And he has made me glad. I heard the voice of Jesus say, Behold, I freely give The living water, thirsty one; Stoop down and drink and live. I came to Jesus, and I drank Of that lifegiving stream; My thirst was quenched, my soul revived, And now I live in him. I heard the voice of Jesus say, I am this dark world s light; Look unto me, your morn shall rise, and all your day be bright. The Pastor Nominating Committee will be formed after we, as a congregation, complete our 5 step process and have a new Mission Statement. The Nominating Committee is looking for 5 or 6 volunteers from all areas of our congregation to work on this Task Force. It will be a Task Force of short duration, but will require regular meetings to accomplish the tasks which are: 1.Coming to Terms with History 2. Discovering a New Identity 3. Allowing Needed Leadership Change 4. Renewing Denominational Links 5. Commitment to New Directions in Ministry The Nominating Committee will select names of people to be approved by Session at the next meeting, March 27, 2013, so please consider whether you or someone you know would like to be on this Task Force and submit their names before March 10, 2013. You can reply by using an I WISH CARD and place in the offering plate. Thank You! -8-
