* Please stand as able GATHERING Prelude Welcome & Announcements There is a Redeemer Melody Green; arr. Mark Kellner Millete Silverio Rev. Dr. Sylvia Pleas *Call to Worship James Faber, Leader Alleluia! Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia! We have not seen the risen Christ, But we see him in the lives of those transformed by grace. We have not seen Jesus face-to-face, But we have seen him in the faces of those whose love encourages us. We have not touched his wounds from the cross, But we have been called to bring healing to the scarred of the world. Alleluia! Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia! (Thom Shuman, Lectionary Liturgies) *Hymn 308 Thine Be the Glory Opening Prayer Author of faith, to you we lift our weary, longing eyes. Our fear would close us down to your love and your call on our lives. Even now, send your Spirit among us. Break into our shut-up hearts, unparalyze our fear-filled minds and unclasp our clenched hands, that we may hear your words of life and truly live. In Jesus name. Amen.

CENTRAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Keeping God central in hearts, minds, and lives WELCOME! If you are a guest at Central today, we welcome you! Here s some helpful things to know: RESTROOMS are downstairs. There is also an accessible restroom just outside the sanctuary, to the left. The words to the hymns, the Scripture readings, and the responses may be followed on the screen. Please silence all CELL PHONES before the service. At the time of the OFFERING, we realize not every one carries cash or checks; to donate electronically go to www.skokiecentralumc.org/donate.html Today as we celebrate HOLY COMMUNION, you need not be United Methodist or a member of Central to participate; everyone of every age who accepts Christ s invitation to his table are welcome. Our method of communion today will be to receive the bread and the cup while seated. REV. DR. SYLVIA PLEAS REV. DR. SYLVIA PLEAS, is a native Chicagoan and comes from a family of church musicians. She is a graduate of Frances W. Parker School and Provident Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, North Central College in Naperville, and Garrett Seminary in Evanston, from which she earned a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate in Ministry. This year she joined her son Henry at his home now in Skokie. HENRY H. PLEAS, III HENRY H. PLEAS, III, born in Chicago, was educated in Chicago area schools, and attended Brown University. Upon graduation, he received the school s Madeira Prize for Excellence in Music.
