Revere and Recharge is a discipleship ministry of Berean Baptist Church. In this ministry, the whole church comes together to worship God by studying his Word, singing praises to him, and memorizing Scripture and catechism. Each week, we have the opportunity to worship corporately in our opening session as we Keep Singing historical hymns. This year the men s, women s, and youth ministries will be studying Deuteronomy and Matthew. The children will be studying biblical theology using The Gospel Project: Chronological. Also, that we might Store Up God s Word and truth in our hearts, our church family will be memorizing 15 catechism questions/answers and support verses. Please join us on Wednesday nights to Revere our God and enjoy a mid-week Recharge we all need and from which we can benefit.

Catechism Questions Q21. What sort of Redeemer is needed to bring us back to God? -One who is truly human and also truly God Q22. Why must the Redeemer be truly human? -That in human nature he might on our behalf perfectly obey the whole law and suffer the punishment for human sin. Q23. Why must the Redeemer be truly God? -That because of his divine nature his obedience and suffering would be perfect and effective. Q24. Why was it necessary for Christ, the Redeemer, to die? -Christ died willingly in our place to deliver us from the power and penalty of sin and bring us back to God. Q25. Does Christ s death mean all our sins can be forgiven? -Yes, because Christ s death on the cross fully paid the penalty for our sin, God will remember our sins no more. Q26. What else does Christ s death redeem? -Every part of fallen creation. Q27. Are all people, just as they were lost through Adam, saved through Christ? -No, only those who are elected by God and united to Christ by faith. Q28. What happens after death to those not united to Christ by faith? -They will be cast out from the presence of God, into hell, to be justly punished, forever. Q29. How can we be saved? -Only by faith in Jesus Christ and in his substitutionary atoning death on the cross.

Q30. What is faith in Jesus Christ? -Receiving and resting on him alone for salvation as he is offered to us in the gospel. Q31. What do we believe by true faith? a. We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. b. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. c. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Q32. What do justification and sanctification mean? -Justification means our declared righteousness before God. Sanctification means our gradual, growing righteousness. Q33. Should those who have faith in Christ seek their salvation through their own works, or anywhere else? -No, everything necessary to salvation is found in Christ. Q34. Since we are redeemed by grace alone, through Christ alone, must we still do good works and obey God s Word? -Yes, so that our lives may show love and gratitude to God; and so that by our godly behavior others may be won to Christ.

Q35. Since we are redeemed by grace alone, through faith alone, where does this faith come from? -From the Holy Spirit.
