2 A PERSONAL NOTE Dear AIM Family, We got a face lift! If you haven t had the chance, please check out our new website and let us know what you think! Angie Clark did an awesome job! We are so glad to have her as part of our AIM team. Coming soon, there will be a new AIM Go! Center; so, be on the lookout for more newness coming your way! Also, please don t miss the news from Brother Poitras in continuing your continuing missions education! We will also be condensing our AIMers Alley to be more concise. We would love your feedback to let us know how you like the change! Yours for the Kingdom, Tia Reynolds -Providing a pathway, creating a community- CONTINUING MISSIONARY EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY Plans have been set in motion to develop a Continuing Missionary Education program designed to educate and equip people for excellence in global missions ministry. This program targets those on the AIM program who would like to pursue associate missionary appointment, those in the associate missionary program that would like to pursue intermediate appointment, and intermediate missionaries that would like to pursue career appointment. The Continuing Missionary Education program encourages potential and active missionary personnel to be educated and enhanced in their calling. We seek to educate, equip, empower, and encourage innovation in reaching our globe with the whole Gospel while allowing appointed personnel to remain committed to their mission context. The Certificates in Global Missions will be awarded to those completing courses while under appointment and in service in global missions. Courses taken through Global Missions would be developed at a standard where we would be able to seek an articulation agreement with colleges in North America. Our Paths: The following courses are designed in partnership between Global Missions, the Global Association of Theological Studies, and the Global Education Committee, and are accessible from any location, even those with limited internet connectivity. Courses marked Book Available indicates the course will be available on January 1, 2018. Courses would include but will not be limited to: 1. The Call and Sensing God s Direction (Finding and Fulfilling the Will of God) (Book Available) 2. Introduction to Global Missions (Book Available) 3. Biblical Theology of Missions (Book Available) 4. Global Missions Policy, Procedure, and Finance 5. Global Missions Promotion
3 6. History of Global Missions (Book available) 7. Missionary Life 8. Indigenous Church and Leadership Development (Book Available) 9. Strategies of Cross-cultural Communications, Church Planting, and Church Growth 10. Evangelism and Discipleship in the Muslim World 11. Trends in Global Missions 12. World Religions (Book Available) 13. Leadership and Team Dynamics in a Global Setting 14. Cultural Anthropology Our Procedure: Our initial/immediate approach will be to make courses/books available as required reading with the opportunity to answer study questions. This would be followed by, or developed into, audio or video instruction that go along with the textbooks. Instructors would be selected from a list of qualified personnel within Global Missions and our expanded missionary community. Our Requirements: 1. The completion of two courses or reading of textbooks prior to Associate Missionary appointment. 2. The completion of four courses or reading of textbooks prior to Intermediate Missionary appointment. (This would include the two courses taken at the previous level.) 3. The completion of six courses or reading of textbooks prior to Career Missionary appointment. (This includes the four courses taken at the previous levels.) *This means those at Career Missionary appointment status would not be required to participate in the Continuing Missions Education program described here. (We would certainly be open to those desiring to do so). *Those already at the Associate Missionary level would only need to take two courses prior to Intermediate appointment. *Those already at the Intermediate Missionary level would only need to take two courses prior to Career appointment. *For couples, our preference would be that both the husband and wife complete the requirements. A certificate could be given for each course with a Certificate in Global Missions provided for the completion of six courses. A simple method of evaluation would be used for each of the courses. Currently, the only charge to our missionary personnel would be the cost of the books involved. This can come from the PIM account if funds are available. If you have any questions about the Continuing Missionary Education program, please e-mail jpoitras@upci.org. Yours for Continuing Missionary Education, Jim Poitras, Director of Education/AIM

REGIONAL HIGHLIGHTS AFRICA NEWLY APPROVED AIMERS /CHANGE OF FIELD Cassandra Young, Malawi Courtney Boyd, Ghana Bonnie Flanders, Botswana Emma Lee Bryant, Ghana Benjamin Ikerd, Malawi David & Ashley Cadd, Madagascar Mateo Garcia, Madagascar ASIA We love hearing reports just like these: We just finished a family camp in Bihar State. Over 200 received the Holy Ghost, fourteen took baptism, including a Trinitarian Pastor, and a devout Hindu. Many claimed miracles of Healing. We give God all the glory for what he has done, is doing, and will be doing in Jesus name. -Mark & Bethany Harris, Associate Missionaries to India/South Asia Nadine Morris, Japan Jared Sprous, Japan Janporn & Gerald Fudala, Thailand Melissa Van Zandt, Japan CENTRAL AMERICA/CARIBBEAN The ideal AIM appointment isn t when one AIMer goes and changes the world. It is when one AIMer goes to change the world and he or she leaves changed. One of our recent AIMers put it best in saying I didn t save Guatemala; I never intended to. I think Guatemala just may have saved me. -Morgan McCoy, AIMer to Guatemala What a powerful insight. We are all blessed to not only be used in AIM but to allow God to shape us through AIM!

6 OTHER NEWS A friendly reminder from Pat: If you send a check and PIM form for processing through your account at Global Missions, PLEASE make sure the form is filled out completely. This will assist in getting those cash receipts into your projects sooner. Many donations come in with a check and a blank form, and these take longer to process. Please remind your donors of this! We are extremely excited to hear from our AIMers all over the globe. Thank you so much for all the hard work and sacrifice you are making. We appreciate you more than words! Don t forget to send your AIM reports and pictures on a monthly to pmorgan@upci.org and treynolds@upci.org. We love seeing what is happening in your corner of the world!
