Speaker: Deacon Ted Faust Topic: Light from Light: Learning to Breathe with Both of Her Lungs. Monday, Mar 4 @ 6:30 PM, Lower Church Undercroft There will be a short meeting and then Deacon Ted will give us an overview of the spirituality of Western and Eastern Christianity. Many of us don t understand that there is an Eastern Christian (and Catholic) Rite at play and how it is wonderfully complementary to Western (Roman) Catholicism. Join us for this informative talk to help kick off the start of your Lent! Please bring a friend, an appetizer, dessert or snack. Spring Bake Sale March 30 31, 2019 Undercroft Bake Sale coming soon to a Basilica near you! We are looking for donations of cookies, cakes, pies, cupcakes, breads, bars, candies, snack mixes, nuts, etc. We were a little short on baked goods at Christmas so we re asking all bakers to please bake lots of items to help make this bake sale successful! We also need help with set-up and with pricing of items on Saturday March 30th after 1:30 PM and/or selling of items before and after all weekend masses. Baked goods can be dropped off in the Undercroft after 1:30 PM on Saturday. Please bring items packaged, ready to sell. Clear plastic containers will be available in the gift shop a week prior to the bake sale. Please label if nuts and or peanut butter are in the ingredients. Thank you!

Soup and Session Monday, April 1 Church Undercroft We will be volunteering for the Lenten soup and session on April 1st. Our group will supply the homemade soups, breads, crackers, & desserts. Please bring your own serving utensils. We will also help with set up/tear down. There will be a sign-up sheet at our March General Meeting. Movie Night This is cancelled. Originally it was scheduled for Friday, Apr. 26. It has not been determined if this will be rescheduled. If there is a new date it will be announced. Scholarship Luncheon This is one of our favorite events of the year! Date has been confirmed: Save the date, Saturday, June 1 @ The Wisconsin Club. Raffle Items Needed We are again asking for donations of raffle prizes for the Christian Women Scholarship Luncheon. Donations of all kinds are needed and greatly appreciated. Some suggestions: Items for summer fun and technology enthusiasts - gardeners, golfers and grillers. Wine or spirits are always a big hit as are gift cards to restaurants and stores in any amount. Things for the home/kitchen or accessories, such as jewelry, purses or scarves are also appreciated. Donations needed by May 12. Items can be dropped off at the Pavilion gift shop. Christmas Bake Sale Thank you to all of you that generously donated soups, crafts, baked goods and helped at the bake sale. This year we decided to try something a little different. A member suggested, why not make homemade soups to take home and heat up. She said, our soups are always a hit at Soup and Session so why not try selling them? What a great idea! So, we decided to give it a try. I m happy to say that we sold out of all of them! People seemed to love the idea and were still asking for them after we ran out. So, it looks like we ll be offering them again at our next Christmas Bake Sale! Special thanks to Margaret Derr for leading this event, also, and Julie Westbrook who spent most of their weekend at this event. Our bake sales are major fundraisers for us and we wouldn t be able to continue them year after year without all your donations and help! We are very blessed and thankful to have all the wonderful ladies in our organization! Christian Women Quilt Raffle Congratulations to parishioner and member of Christian Women Jeannette Schamens. She is the winner of the quilt made and donated by Camille Nawrocki, also a parishioner and member of Christian Women. The drawing was held on Sunday, December 23 following the Milwaukee Symphony Concert. We appreciate all of

Camille s many hours of hard work stitching this beautiful quilt and all the time she spent over two weekends selling raffle tickets. Camille was able to raise $1,286.00. Amazing!! Thank you Camille for helping support Christian Women! Christmas Dinner We celebrated our Christmas Dinner on Monday, January 14 at Oak Creek Community Center. Thank you to all of you that donated gift cards, and bought raffle tickets! Spiritual Life Notice and Appreciate By: Jane Czarnezki- Drake We are reminded at this time of year how keeping hope and finding light and beauty takes work. After days and days of snow, then extreme cold, then clouds and rain, then clouds and sleet, then clouds and freezing rain, then just fog and clouds. It made me make a concerted effort to find things that were bright and signs of light and life. I started noticing when a coworker would wear a bright and cheery color; I noticed and took time to appreciate a deer on the side of the road as I drove to the store; I noticed how random acts of generosity make such a huge impact when a stranger offered me candy (I know, it doesn't sound good - but it was fine!); I noticed how simply lighting one candle could brighten a room and definitely noticed when the sun came out for a whole 10 minutes the other day!

This sometimes challenging time of year is the time to notice and appreciate the little things, because most of our life is made up of the little things. Look for the signs of light of the world, it's always there because the light of Jesus is always there waiting for us to take in that gift. Crafts From Crosses to Talents By: Have you ever had days when your thoughts went something like this How am I ever going to get through this pain in my heart? Don t we all have those days I do and I will be honest they have been so incredibly painful. Staying close to Jesus and Mary has always been my mainstay of comfort. But when my spiritual world went upside down, I was so lost and confused! Then a dear priest friend said to me after listening to all my sadness, he said, so what is your project you are working on? You need a project! I then realized something with all the crosses come talents to get me through the crosses. I am so blessed, to be given the talents of painting, baking and fiber art! When I ponder how did you get through that painful time in your life, I can come up with a big awesome project to match it. It helped me work through the pain with a sense of manageability. So, this is a very long introduction to introducing my new business called Lady Poppy Designs. I started this business with the idea of sharing my talents of fiber art to not only teach an awesome craft but learn there s also a tool to help work through all the crosses we are given. It s amazing when the hands are busy with something of creativity what can happen to our mood. It s motivating and inspiring to know what lies in us! So, let s start with the oldie but super fun proggy rugs. Many of you are familiar with proggy, but there s more to come within the fiber art world of proggy rugs. My new work studio located in my home, is opening with classes, in Proggy and Wool Felt Flowers. Looking forward to making rugs and memories with all of you! Working through the joys and sorrows that life gives us. You will soon be receiving an email regarding my Open House for sign-up on Proggy Classes and Felted Flowers. If you don't have an email please contact me for a copy of the invite: 414-559-4336 Peace in Creating!
