!!!! TASHI DELEK! WELCOME to Yuthok Nyingthig Ngondro Retreat 18th to 24th February 2017 Pharping, Nepal The Preliminary Practice of Yuthok Nyingthig A Spiritual Practice of Traditional Tibetan Medicine The Yuthok Nyingthig (gyu Thog snying Thig) practice is the most important and unique spiritual practice for Traditional Tibetan Medicine doctors, astrologers and healing practitioners, as well as for lay men and women. It is the secret path of Tibetan Physicians, yogis and healers. It is an ancient tradition well suited to modern times primarily for the reason that the practice is very short and effective. It gives a deep spiritual understanding and infinite healing power, as well as a most secret spiritual realisation.
Nying means heart and Thig means the essential, so a more complete meaning is Yuthok s essential heart teaching or The Innermost Essence of the Teaching of Yuthok. The practice was composed with the intention of leading practitioners to experience the union of medicine with spiritual practice. This awareness is realised through the harmonious integration of body, mind and energy in the subtlest form of the five elements. The Yuthok Nyingthig is a Buddhist styled spiritual practice, which brings harmony and peace for both self and others. It s not only a life philosophy and a great living art; it is a great secret path to realising Rainbow Body, which is the dissolution of the physical body into the essence of the 5 elements, disappearing into a body of light. The Three Stages of Yuthok Ngöndro 1. Common Ngöndro (The Base) Common Ngöndro is simply for all common people so everyone is able to reflect on the meaning of life, to see the true nature of life. It has 5 important points and these can be practiced by thinking or meditating, however if we re able to realise these through our own life experiences, it is even more effective. 1. The difficulty in achieving a precious human life 2. The impermanence of life 3. The natural law of cause and effect 4. The consequence of living in Samsara, the worldly life 5. The benefits of spiritual liberation 2. Uncommon Ngöndro (The Path) This is a special Buddhist concept which is different from our normal way of looking at our life. This is why it is known as the Uncommon practice. Dharma refers to the way or path, and everybody and every tradition has their own way of thinking and living according to it. Buddha s way of thinking is called Buddha Dharma, and in this case, Buddha s style is called Uncommon to others. In the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition, there are 7 aspects: 1. Refuge 2. Bodhicitta and the Four Immeasurables 3. Prostration 4. Mandala offering and Circumambulation 5. Purification practice of Dorje Sempa 6. Kusali practice 7. Puja practice 3. Routine Ngöndro (Karma Yoga)
Once we ve completed the Uncommon Ngöndro, then we need to establish a routine practice. Importantly, this is something that can be practiced throughout our whole lives, whenever we can or when we desire to do something for the benefit of others, to help others and make others happy. We can achieve this through Karma Yoga. The Yuthok Nyingthig Ngöndro can be finished within seven days. Yuthok s main focus is that the Ngöndro practice should be put into good use, it s not just about counting recitations. It is with his blessing that seven days is sufficient to experience and understand the meaning of the Ngöndro, following which we can incorporate it into our lives by using our hands to help patients and other people in need. When it comes to the Medicine Buddha, he and Yuthok have energies that emphasise immediate blessing and ultimate healing. Because of Yuthok s merits, prayers and energy, even by performing a short day of this sacred practice, you will be immediately blessed. Unlike other traditions, where one has to accumulate huge numbers of actions, the Yuthok Nyingthig is exceptionally empowered with Yuthok s heart essence, guaranteeing your spiritual progress The Yuthok Nyingthig practice is a very ancient wisdom, and it has passed from generations to generations. It is also perfectly suitable and useful in our times. From Yuthok s kindness, we are so fortunate to have this simple and wonderful practice, a foundation of spirituality as well as the essential practice of Buddha Dharma. With the Ngondro, one is always connected with Yuthok and thus understands the true nature of Yuthok and of one s self and the great union of all which is beyond time and space Every thought, each single action, every chance and opportunity is karma; And the finest art of good karma is to live with awareness ~ Dr.Nida Chenagtsang *This retreat to open to all who desire a good foundation in spiritual practice. *Traditional observances, such as a vegetarian diet will be maintained throughout.
