Grace Lutheran Church is a caring community of disciples, proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. August, 2018 The Spirit strengthens my inner being. And yet, I know I remain weak. It will not be long before I fall, if history promises anything. The Spirit, though, is a strength in my weakness. I am given the opportunity to love a friend, and then I know that the Spirit is with me. By faith and love, this life is made a holy life, even with all the brokenness. By grace, I see that my weakness is a gift to others. On Saturday, August 25th, from 10am to noon, we will gather for the final installment of our look at the practices of the early Church. We will explore the Rule of Paul, a look at the power of our voices within the Church. The morning will begin with a Blessing of Our Voices and a quiet service moved by the Holy Spirit. After our service, we will see what it means for us to each be leaders of the Church and voices guided by the Spirit. LifeTouch is putting together a new photo-directory for Grace. The pictures will be taken September 14 th and 15 th. Please sign up for your pictures by August 12th. As always, I am here for you and want to hear from you. Drop by my office, grab me after church or stop me at Walmart I look forward to talking with you. With faith and hope and love, Micah

Thank you to all of you that helped with the 4 th of July in South Range, for being in charge of the bounce house and concession stand. Grace made a total of $266.91 which will go for community programs and children s activities. Being a Wednesday it went well, especially considering how hot it was, and that the bounce house was shut down early because of a storm rolling in. Grace Lutheran Church P.O. Box 249, South Range, MI 49963 906-482-2011, www.gracesouthrange.com Monday, July 30, 2018 Dear Parents and Families of the Grace After-School Program Children, Greetings in Christ! Currently, we are working to overhaul the After-School Program. After discussion, we see that we need to develop new resources and volunteers to make the program what we hope it can be. For this year, ASP will not meet while we work to find grants for improving our offerings and creating some positions to help staff and develop the program. During the period that ASP does not meet, we will continue to offer special events from time to time for your children. Also, you are invited to participate in our Sunday School program, which meets on Sundays at 10am. We want our program to be sustainable and one that works for the volunteers and children. We will work to make ASP what we all want and need. We will keep you informed as the program develops. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns. You can contact our church office at 482-2011 or write to Vicar Micah Cavaleri at vicar@gracesouthrange.com. We have great hope for the future of ASP. Peace and All-Good. Micah Cavaleri

Grace Lutheran Church P.O. Box 249, South Range, MI 49963 906-482-2011, www.gracesouthrange.com Monday, July 30, 2018 FYI At the July 2018 council meeting, Vicar Micah presented a request for a leave of absence. His wife, Molly is taking a sabbatical leave from MTU to go to Japan. His request for leave was for January 6, 2019 until March 6, 2019. This will be an opportunity for the family to travel together along with experiencing other cultures. Pastor Julie Belew would be our interim pastor and Micah would find pulpit supply before he went. He would not be paid during this leave. The council has agreed to let him take this leave of absence. There are still some particulars that have to be worked out but this is a wonderful opportunity for him and his family. If there are concerns or questions, please let me or one of the council members know. Thank you. Cheryl L. Stimac President
