ALL the 10 Commandments are equally important. But WHY is it that you emphasize on the Sabbath commandment MORE than the rest?
But the Commandments on the first table of stone is greater than the commandments on the second table, said the Lord Jesus Himself. As our relationship to God is to be before our relationship to man. (See Matthew 22: 35-40)
By emphasizing the Sabbath commandment we are NOT doing something illogical as that is generally the one point of disagreement. Nearly all Christians agree on the other nine. So where does the FOCUS finally come to? on the one that is NEGLECTED!
When we have a heart problem we go to the Cardiologist. When we have an eye problem we go to the ophthalmologist. And when we have a tooth problem we go to the dentist.
WHY do the Cardiologists focus only on the HEART?
WHY do the ophthalmologists focus only on the EYES?
WHY do the dentists focus only on the TEETH?
It is NOT that the heart, eyes or teeth are the only important organs of the body. BUT when there is a particular problem in the body, much attention is given to the organ that is suffering!
The Bible is filled with emphasis on particular things from beginning to the end.
Among all the fruits, one particular fruit was emphasized! (Gen 2:16, 17)
Among the 100 sheep, emphasis was on the one that was lost! (Luke 15:3-7)
Among the two sons, the emphasis was on the one son prodigal son! (Luke 15:11-32)
Among the 10 silver coins, the emphasis was on the one that was missing! (Luke 15:8-10)
Luke 15:8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?
Luke 15:9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
Among these 10 silver coins of truth, One the Sabbath was LOST. And the woman (in prophecy is church), when she FINDS it, she rejoices and tells her neighbors and friends, about the found silver coin!
Emphasizing on the one that was missing, and is now found, is logical and Biblical!
Though the Sabbath commandment is a part of the 10 Commandments, God Himself saw it fit, at the giving of the law, to give special attention to this commandment, above the rest, knowing man s weakness of forgetting it!
On Mount Sinai God gave a detailed explanation on Sabbath keeping, and immediately after that he handed over the 2 tables to Moses!
Exodus 31:17, 18 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God. The end of communing on Mt. Sinai was on the subject of Sabbath keeping, AND THEN the law was handed over to Moses!
Nehemiah 9:13, 14 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments: And madest known unto them thy holy Sabbath. Though the Sabbath is a part of the true laws, it is emphasized over again!
If the book of the law is the first five books of Moses, that was nailed to the cross, then the book of the law contains the 10 Commandments twice written (Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5), which means the 10 Commandments are nailed as well! So we are perfectly Biblical and logical in emphasizing the Sabbath commandment!
If the book of the law is the first five books of Moses, that was nailed to the cross, then the book of the law contains the 10 Commandments twice written (Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5), which means the 10 Commandments are nailed as well!
