LIVING FAITH COMMUNITY CHURCH 1715 Grandstand Drive San Antonio, TX 78238 T 210-521-6344 F 210-521-6451 http://salivingfaith.org Welcome New Member, I am overwhelmed with joy as I take this opportunity to welcome you into this Christian relationship and into the full fellowship of Living Faith Community Church. The entire Living Faith Family joins me in opening our hearts to you and letting you know how happy we are that you chose this church as your spiritual home. As a new member, you will have the opportunity to start new friendships and enjoy Christian fellowship. Whether you are a new or mature Christian, I look forward to us all growing together as, effective servants of God. The Apostle Paul declared, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me (Gal 2:20). I want all of us to experience the life transforming power of His crucifixion that produces a living faith. Living Faith is a community of believers who seek to meet the challenges of real life by connecting to a real faith. If we can be of service to you and your family, never hesitate to let us know. I am so very honored by your presence and I pray God s richest blessings in your life. Your Humble Servant, Pastor Kevin For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:11 1

ARTICLES OF FAITH 1. THE SCRIPTURE: We believe that the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testament scripture, was written by men divinely inspired and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instructions; that it has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any-mixture or error for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried. (II TIMOTHY 3:16, 17; PROVERBS 30:5, 6; REVELATION 22:18, 19; PSALMS 19:7 14; MATTHEW 4:4; DEUTERONOMY 8:3) 2. GOD: We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God, and infinite intelligent spirit, whose name is JEHOVAH, the maker and supreme ruler of heaven and earth; who is worthy of all creatures highest love, reverence, and obedience. (GENESIS 1:1 31; MARK 12:30) 3. THE TRINITY: We believe that in the unity of the God head; are three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct but in agreement, their offices in the great work of Redemption. (JOHN 1:1 3; MATTHEW 28:19) 4. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST: We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was and is ever shall be, the eternal Son of God; that He was with the Father and the Holy Spirit in the beginning; that He came to earth being supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary; that He was God in flesh; that while here on earth He lived a sinless and spotless life; that He died a supernatural and vicarious death upon the cross for the sins of mankind; that He Bodily rose from the dead the third day; and that He ascended to right hand of God from whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead and to reign eternally. (JOHN 1:1 3, 14; ROMANS 5:8; HEBREWS 1; REVELATIONS 20:12) 5. THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe that God in this age manifests Himself though the Holy Spirit, who possesses distinct personal attributes, that He is 2

eternally co-existent with the Father and the Son; that His basic ministries are conviction of sin, regeneration of the heart upon faith, guiding, helping, and empowering believers to live godly lives. We believe that he indwells all believers, and that those who are indwelt by the Holy Spirit may be progressively filled and controlled by the Holy Spirit by appropriating faith. The Fruit of the Spirit in the believer s life is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. In all things, the Holy Spirit is to glorify Christ. (GALATIANS 5:22, 23; JOHN 16:1 15). 6. THE FALL OF MAN: We believe that God originally created man in His own image, free from sin but by voluntary transgression through the temptation of Satan, he transgressed the command of God and fell from the Holy and happy state where by His descendants inherit nature corrupt and wholly opposed to God and His law, are under condemnation. We believe that as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors of eternal ruin without defense of excuses. (GENESIS 1:27; 3:6 24; ROMANS 1:16 22) 7. THE WAY OF SALVATION: We believe that salvation of sinners is wholly of grace, through the mediatory office of Jesus, the Son of God, who by the appointment of the Father, who freely took upon Him our nature, that being conceived by the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary yet without sin. He perfectly fulfilled the law, suffered and died upon the cross for the salvation of sinners. He was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended to His Father, at whose right hand He ever lives to make intercession for His people. He is the only mediator, the prophet, priest, and King of the Church, and Sovereign of the universe. (EPHESIANS 2:8; JOHN 3:16; PHILIPPIANS 2:11 16) 8. JUSTIFICATION: We believe that justification is God s gracious and full acquittal of sinners, who believe in Christ, from all sin, through the satisfaction that Christ has made; not for anything wrought in them or work done by them; but on account of the obedience and satisfaction of Christ, they receiving and resting on Him and His righteousness by Faith. (ACTS 3:39; ROMANS 5:1 3; 4:4, 5) 3

9. REGENERATION: We believe that in order to be saved, sinners must be regenerated, or born again. We believe that regeneration is a change of heart, wrought by the Holy Ghost, who quickened the dead in trespasses and sins, enlightening their minds spiritually and savingly, understand the Word of God, and renewing their whole nature, so that they love and practice holiness, it is a work of God s free and special grace alone. (EPHESIANS 2:1 6; GALATIANS 5:16 23) 10. REPENTANCE: We believe that repentance is a sacred duty and is wrought in our souls by the regenerating spirit of God. Whereby a person being deeply convinced of guilt, danger, helplessness, and or the way of salvation by Christ, we will turn to God with unfeigned, broken-hearts for sin in confession. We humble ourselves for it with godly sorrow, to secure our voluntary obedience to the gospel, with a purpose and endeavor to walk with God, to please Him in all things. (ACTS 2:37, 38; ROMANS 16:9, 10) 11. FAITH: We believe that saving faith is the belief, on God s authority, or whatsoever is revealed in His Word concerning Christ accepting and resting upon Him alone for justification, sanctification, and eternal life. It is wrought in the heart by the Holy Ghost and is accompanied by all other saving graces, and lead to a life of Holiness. (HEBREWS 11:1 6) 12. SANCTIFICATION: We believe that sanctification is the process, which, according to the will of God, make us partakers of His holiness. We believe that it is a progressive work; that it is begun in regeneration; and that is carried on in the heart by the presence and power of the Holy Ghost, the sealer and comforter, in the continual use of the appointed means especially the Word of God, self-examination, self-denial, watchfulness and prayer. (PHILIPPIANS 2: 12, 13; I THESSALONIANS 4:3; I JOHN 2:29) 13. PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINT: We believe that those whom God hath accepted are beloved through the beloved Christ and sanctified by God s word and spirit, never will totally, finally fall away from the state of grace but shall certainly preserve to the end through the neglect and temptation into sin. Whereby they grieve the spirit, impair their graces and comforts, bring reproach of the Church and temporal judgment on themselves, renewed again 4

unto repentance, and be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation. (I JOHN 2:19; ROMANS 8:28; PHILIPPIANS 1:6) 14. GOSPEL CHURCH: We believe that a visible Church is a congregation of baptized believers. Whereby the Lord Jesus is the head of the Church associated by covenant in the faith, fellowship of the gospel, and observing the ordinances of Christ are governed by His laws and exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His word that its only scriptural officers are Bishops and Elders (Pastors), and Deacons. Those claims, qualifications, and duties are defined in the Epistles to Timothy and Titus. (MATTHEW 18:17; 28:20; I CORINTHIANS 1:1 18; TITUS 1; I TIMOTHY 3) 15. THE UNIVERSAL BODY OF CHRIST: We believe that in at least 13 passages of the New Testament, the Holy Spirit refers to the universal body of Christ, sometimes called the Church. That this body is made up of all who are truly saved and born again regardless of race, color or denomination; that one becomes a member of the body of Christ the moment they accept Christ as their Savior and Lord; that it is one flesh with Christ, and is espoused to Him as a chaste virgin to one husband. (Ephesians 2:21 22; 5:30-31, 11 Corinthians 11:2 4) 16. BAPTISM: We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost who will do this to show forth as a sign of his fellowship with the death and resurrection of Christ. Baptism symbolizes the giving up of self to God and to live and walk in newness of life. (JOHN 3:22 28; MATTHEW 3:13 17; MATTHEW 28:19) 17. THE LORD S SUPPER: We believe that the Lord s Supper, in which the members of the church by sacred use of the bread and fruit of the vine are to commemorate together the love of Christ. It is designed to commemorate His death, to confirm the faith and other grace of Christians, and to be a bond, pledge, and renewal of their communion with Him and their church fellowship. It is to be preceded always by solemn self-examination. (I CORINTHIANS 11:20 34; MATTHEW 26:17 30) 5

18. THE LORD S DAY: We believe that the first day of the week is the Lord s Day and is to be kept sacred to religious purposes, employed in exercise of worship and spiritual devotion, both public and private; resting from worldly employment and amusements, only work of necessity and mercy is the exception. (HEBREWS 10:24, 25; ISAIAH 58:13, 14) 19. THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED: We believe that there is a radical, essential difference between the righteous and the wicked. We believe that such, only as through faith, are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and sanctified by the spirit of our God, are truly righteous in His esteem while all such as continue in impenitence and unbelief are in his sight wicked, and under the curse; and this distinction holds among men both in and after death. (MALACHI 3:19; ROMANS 1:17; I JOHN 5:19; LUKE 16:25) 20. THE WORLD TO COME RESURRECTION: We believe that the end of this world is approaching (I PETER 4:7). We believe in that blessed hope, the personal sudden return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that at the last day Christ will descend from heaven, and raise the dead from the grave to final retribution and solemn separation will take place. (I THESSALONIANS 4:13 18; ACTS 1:11) 21. JUDGEMENT: We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost and that this judgment will fix forever the final state of men in Heaven or Hell, principles of righteousness. (REVELATION 22:11; ACTS 24:15; MATTHEW 24:31 46) 22. CIVIL GOVERNMENT: We believe that civil government is for the interest and good order of human society. We believe that public civil orders are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored, and obeyed except only in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus, who is the only Lord of the conscience and the Prince of the Kings of the earth. (ROMANS 3:1 7; ACTS 5:29; MATTHEW 22:21) 6
