2 SAM S DESK Well I actually thought with the rain and the cold we might not get an Indian Summer, but it seems things are looking up. Fingers crossed. September garage sale we did really good, it was almost $1400.00 now with the added sales from the Edson Garage Sale sight, where we have been posting thing thanks to Amanda being my Social Media girl. We also got to give our volunteers a treat, as I try to do when I can. I counted that day 35 that were here. And at least 15 that couldn t come, that is 50 volunteers. We only have about 28 staff, so we are very blessed with the generosity of the volunteers in our community. At this time I have about 5 volunteers that are waiting to get their paperwork done, and I might be able to add to that list. Again, it was Jason Hird and his crew that donated the wonderful roast pig and turkey, so all together with Jimmy the Crooner our entertainment that night, it only cost the Matamao Seniors Club, less than $300.00 to feed and entertain what we thought would be 100 with residents. In October on the 23rd, Cindy wanted to do a second Breast Cancer fundraiser. We brainstormed and came up with a Tea & Cupcake sale to try and beat the total we raised last year, which won t be hard to beat. It seems to me it was around $100.00. So we are asking families to donate cupcakes for the Cause, and all money will be sent to the Breast Cancer Foundation. November will be our fall Craft/Homebased business show & Bake Sale, which is all money goes to the Matamao Seniors Club, like the garage sales, clothing sales etc. Here again we will ask resident families to donate all sorts of baking. Many of the staff donate baking for this sale as well. These Monies raised are towards anything to do with activities. All of you are welcome to come to Matamao board meetings as posted. December is the Parkland Auxiliary s Bake Sale and Tea, and that fundraiser brings money in similarly as the Grandparents walk does, for the amazing things they do for the Lodge. The Auxiliary buys many of our flowers in spring, birthday & Christmas gift cards. Halloween prizes for costumes judging at the dance. Wine for Christmas dinner and New Years. I wanted to take this opportunity to clarify the different fundraisers coming up, and all year long. Happy Autumn, Sam NEWS FROM Page 2
