Temple Topics ~ Newsletter ~ The 4th month of the year brings us April Fools Day, Earth Day, and the chance for some rain. According to early Roman calendar, April was the second month but became fourth when they started to use January as the first month. The name originally came from Aprilis, meaning 'to open'. In April, small animals that were hibernating usually come out and the birds fly back northward to settle, bees and butterflies begin to gather nectar. In some parts of the world, April is planting time but in other parts, it's the harvest season. Because of the nice warm weather of April, amateur athletes begin to go outside while the professional baseball begins. People usually do huge spring cleaning and mowing. The first day of April begins with April fool's day. The birthstone for April is the diamond. The zodiac signs for April are Aries (March 21 - April 19) and Taurus (April 20 - May 20). The birth flower of April is typically the Sweet Pea or the Daisy. April is Global Child Nutrition Month, Humor Month, Mathematics Awareness Month The Revolutionary War in America began on April 19, 1775. On April 4, 1818, a flag that contained 1 star for each state and 13 stripes was adopted by Congress. Finally, Spring is here. What is new in your life? What has sprung in your life? This is the season for newness and life! We celebrate this season with the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ! At Baptist Temple we strive to reach the community through culture, spirituality, and the arts. Yet, we know at the core of these things the truth of Christ has been and will always be our foundation. Isn't this good news? Yes, the gospel of Jesus Christ is good news for all of us! I'd like to offer Christ to you. You're probably saying, "Pastor is going to invite me to church.", and of course you are welcome but... I actually want to offer Christ to you right where you are. At your kitchen table, in your den, on your patio or porch, Christ is available to you right now. Simply confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and the son of God and that he died and rose from the dead for you. Then accept him into your heart. That's it! I pray that God met you today in this short message. If you're still desiring to know more, come have a chat with me and watch God's love have an overflow in your life! Easter 2018 People at the Baptist Temple LOVE to EAT and have FUN monthly game nights, coffee hour before AND after church, Harvest Dinners, fall festival People at the Baptist Temple LOVE to LEARN and deepen their relationship with GOD weekly worship, bible blast, bible study, Sunday school, restorative yoga, Sunday second hour People at the Baptist Temple LOVE ART, MUSIC and SPIRITUALITY Clover Center for Arts and Spirituality embodies all that we hold dear: inviting community to LIVE, LAUGH, THRIVE, and HEAL by taking advantage of the many opportunities at CCAS such as O.W.L.S. (Older, Wiser, Learning Seniors), dance and painting classes, art exhibits, instrumental and choral concerts, movie viewings, festivals (Renaissance and Living History) Most of all, people at the Baptist Temple LOVE to HELP We may be small, but we are MIGHTY. We take care of each other (visits, meals, phone calls, emails), we take care of our community, (RAIHN, Habitat for Humanity, Cameron Community Ministries) and we CARE about our world (annual mission offerings) Effective and consistent programming at Baptist Temple depends on the generous financial support of its members. This Easter, consider giving a gift to be put towards the BT operating budget. Through our passion and dedication, we will continue to be a beacon of LOVE and COMPASSION in a world that at times seems uncaring and disconnected. Happy Easter!
