thokur sa'eb is also called panchayat...meeting of five dieties...1,ganpati...2,surya...3,vishnu...4,shiv...5,amba (devi) On mekhla (janeu)sanskar, havan is performed and same five deities are propitiated by offering 1000 ahutie (offerings) for every name of that deity...in all we offer 5000 offerings...5 multiplied by 1000..in the same order...from ganpati to amba In thokur sa'eb pooza...we choose pradhan (presiding deity) and keep that deity in the center...in grahasta...vishnu or devi panchayat are considered. If we keep amba in centre...we call it devi panchayat if we keep vishnu in centre we call it vishnu panchayat We should do only thokur pooza while doing thokur pooza...other pooza can be after thokur pooza Simhasan...is not necessary...you can keep in a little box...one friend of mine has kept in little silver box...iron box or leather box should be avoided Ganga water is not must...but it is good to pour some ganga jal in water for shraan (bath )of thokur Nirmaal and flowers of previous pooza can be immersed in running river...dropped near the root of a tree...or in a flower pot kept at home
We can use readymade chandan because of time shortage...and chandan is not easily available...otherwise chandan is good...readymade tilak is of white or a little yellowish in colour We dont need to take bath normally. Our forefathers used to be non-veg still they were great upasaks of thokur saeb In my absence..my wife or my children do thokur pooza...pooza of any kind at home enhances the value of life at home...if all family members learn and do pooza...it becomes deep sanskaar of family I remember my maternal grand mother doing thokur pooza in the absence of her husband pooza of any kind, havan, thokur pooza are forbidden for ladys in the days of periods ladies should not do any kind of pooza on those days...but transcendental meditation can be done even in those days also You can never miss pooza...suppose the whole family is traveling in aeroplane for 3 days/nights continuously...and the thokur sa'eb you are carrying in luggage...you can do all pooza mentally.keeping eyes closed for 10 minutes. If we dont have pooza room...or separate place for pooza...we can keep on a shelf made for the purpose of keeping thokur...we can keep in trunk/attache...but not in leather attache...synthetic attache is ok...in the morning spread piece of cloth made of wool (it is considered shrooch.)...keep thokur on it do the pooza...after pooza keep again in trunk or attache...small blanket of wool should be kept separate for pooza only If someday we dont have flowers...we will post a video for pooza without pooza articles...or mansic pooza (mental pooza) A boy without gayatri a girl child...anyone can do pooza...just imagine if in a home of great kashmiri pandit little kids are performing thokur pooza...and their photograph performing pooza is kept in drawing room can raise consciousness of visitors.while leaving they will carry good thoughts with them and leave many behind.
You need not to come out of bed early for thokur pooza...though it is good...you can do pooza after YA'ED BARITH NE'ANDUR...8 hours sleep. Thokur pooza is no theft...you can do in marriages...after finding a corner for your regular pooza...or keep thokur at home...and do pooza mentally by closing eyes for 10 minutes in marriages...but when you start thokur pooza you get attached to it...it becomes family member...many members of our family keep dogie (dog) and carry him on shoulders, where ever they go...although it is not our tradition.
