Help the Gimel Class support The Book Fairies with their Book and E-Reader Collection, January 1-31, 2019. Look for collection boxes inside the Religious School Wing at SHJC. Accepting new and gently used baby through young adult level books and e-readers. Collected books will be distributed by The Book Fairies to high poverty schools and organizations across metropolitan New York. Encyclopedias and outdated magazines will not be accepted. The Book Fairies is a local 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to bringing the magic of reading to those in need. Unfortunately, The Book Fairies does NOT accept books for adults. Sisterhood Book Club: Thursday, January 17, we will be discussing "This is How it Always Is", by Laurie Frankel. On Thursday, February 14, we will discuss "Commonwealth" by Ann Patchett. On Thursday, March 14, "A Gentleman in Moscow" by Amos Towles. And on Wednesday, April 10, SHJC & JCC will have a Book/Author event: "Button Man" by Andrew Gross. Please be on the lookout in your mail for the order forms for sending Shalah Manot baskets. Forms are due back by Friday, February 1. Please don t wait until the last minute to fill them out. Sisterhood needs your cooperation to make this very important mitzvah project a financial success. If you didn't receive your forms or for more information, please click here. Congregation Hero Engage Support Every Day (CHESED) Program. Our CHESED Program is starting up to support fellow citizens serving in the military. We need YOU! With enough people, we can create a team for each month that will write a letter and mail a care package. You will need write/shop only ONE time for the entire year (but can always do more). We are fortunate to have Cantor Eryka and our music teacher, Stacy Kelly, alongside Rabbi Jacknis preparing to make this a memorable musical Shabbat experience. Shabbatasana: Sisterhood invites you to a Shabbat Yoga Spiritual Alternative on Shabbat morning from 10:30 AM - Noon. Stay for the Shabbat Kiddush following with the congregation. Experience how Shabbat Shaharit and yoga philosophies are aligned, and how together they raise our spiritual awareness. Shabbat Yoga can be completely enjoyed from your mat or while sitting on a chair. All levels of experience welcome. Come ready to breathe, stretch and flow while gaining deeper insight to prayer and Torah. Dress with your "Shabbat best" yoga attire, bring a shawl, light blanket, yoga mat, a bottle of water, an open mind, and join us! Next date: 1/19. In addition, we will have our first Men s Club meeting of the year Monday, January 28 at 7:30 PM; we would like to discuss some interesting events for 2019.
