There will be no meeting in December as we have traditionally substituted the annual Christmas Party for the regularly scheduled meeting. Since Guy Nicholas will be our new President for 2005 we will defer to him for the January meeting preview that will be published in the January Newsletter. So, hang in there another month or so for the next Newsletter. In the meantime, I want to wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR! WCF General Membership Meeting 11/16/04 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm by President Phil Leech. We had 30 members present this evening. Phil announced that the drilling was completed at the field so flying can continue as before. He also noted that the reservations for the Christmas party at Cattleman's restaurant have been confirmed for Saturday, December 11, at 8:30 pm. The drawing for the free door prize of a gallon of fuel was won by Phil Heidt. Treasurer Tom Haddorff gave his monthly report which was approved by the membership. The Secretary's report was approved as printed in the newsletter with the exception of the addition of the following: "Sid stated the new training manual will be included in the welcome packet." The election of officers for 2005 was held with the following results: President will be Guy Nicholas, Vice President is Brody Carlson, Secretary will again be Larry Miller, Treasurer will be taken over by Brian Blackburn, the newsletter editor will be Guy Nicholas, and the board members will decided on at the next meeting. It was announced that the notice for next years dues is in the mail. Sid informed us that the plaques for the outgoing officers are being made by Wayne Frederick and will be presented at the Christmas party. He also mentioned that he has ID stickers for the inside of model aircraft free for all those who don't have their names in their models yet. Sid recited the 2 AMA rules concerning the above mentioned ID and also went over the no fly zone boundaries and rules. He also asked the membership if anyone has a hand truck that we can use to move the generator around at the field and Stevo Smith volunteered his for the club to use. One last item from Sid was his announcement that he can no longer perform the duties of event coordinator and would like for someone to come forward and take over for him. Brody Carlson informed us that the final copy of the training manual is now available. Steve Cole noted that the buddy cords for JR buddy boxes are missing and he will see to it that they are replaced. Joe Kagan stated that with almost everyone using JR radios, we could use another buddy box for training purposes. He made a motion that we buy another one. This was seconded and approved, so we will be purchasing another one in the near future. For show and tell, Wayne Frederick brought in his Fokker DVIII to show us the damage he sustained at a recent contest and his approach to repairing it. Should be back in the air in short order. Also, Charlie Cox brought along his new float plane that he bought recently at a swap meet. He said that he always wanted to try flying off water, and since we have that nice pond, he's ready to give it a try. Steve Cole had a really nice little electric Bearcat at the meeting and he says it flies just great. (After the meeting, he took it out into the parking lot and proceeded to put on a flying demonstration for us.) To wind up show and tell, Brody Carlson showed the video of he and Rob's jet flying at Woodland along with the A-10 Warthog of Will Whiteside. Ralph gave us a rundown on the prizes he had picked up for this evening's raffle. The feature prize was a large scale Sukhoi ARF which was won by Mickey McCracken. Bob Film, who flies a lot of electrics and gliders, won a nice fuel container with a pump. Julio Alvarez took home a multimeter and Guy Nicholas got a Field Tote. Bob Rose won a polo shirt and Phil Heidt got a T-shirt. Lucky Brody chose the coveted hinges plus several other folks took home some nice prizes also.

There being no more business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm and everyone went out to the parking lot for some flight demos under the parking lot lights. Respectfully submitted, Larry Miller, Sec. WCF Board Meeting 12/7/04 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Chairman and President Phil Leech. Members present were Guy Nicholas, John Reade, Tom Haddorff, Ralph Grella, Larry Miller, Sid Maxwell, and Brody Carlson. The meeting was held at Gary Child's new office on Cherry St. Gary could not make the meeting due to a previous engagement but he was kind enough to let us use his facilities. Phil led off the meeting by presenting the program for the upcoming Christmas party. Gary will be the emcee, and along with Phil and Sid, present a few awards, draw tickets for the free raffle, and introduce the new officers for 2005. Sid introduced a copy of the grievance procedures that was mistakenly omitted from our bylaws. After review, they will be typed up by Guy and inserted into the book. Sid also reminded us that he is in need of a replacement on the events committee. If anyone is interested in helping out in setting up the events for the upcoming year, contact any board member for more information. He did say that he would remain as flight training coordinator between instructors and students, though. A discussion was held on things that we would like to do next year. Ralph gave us a rundown on the prizes he will be picking up for the January meeting. He also informed us that he will no longer be able to do this for the club and we are going to have to find another volunteer. Any volunteers out there? For show and tell at the next meeting, we hope Mike Cingari will be able to bring in and demonstrate his electric helicopter. Guy will be checking into this for us. 3 We were informed that the helicopter flyers would like to move to another place on the field. They will present their plan and it will be reviewed by the membership. It was suggested that we send a thank you letter to the Salvation Army along with a donation of $100.00 for letting us use their property for float flying. Sid will take of this. There being no more business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 pm. Respectfully submitted, Larry Miller, Sec. WINE COUNTRY FLYERS CHRISTMAS PARTY 2004 By: Phil Leech The Christmas Party was held at Cattlemen s Restaurant in Montgomery Village for the third consecutive year with about 50 members and wives/girlfriends in attendance. I introduced Gary Child as our Emcee and he proceeded to review the past year with highlights centering on the new events pylon racing & combat flying - but with special emphasis on construction of our new canopies and the spectacular PCAM show. It gave Gary the opportunity to recognize the efforts of many individual members. Plaques were awarded to outgoing Officers and Board Members including: President late 2004 Phil Leech President early 2004 Steve Smith Board Member John Stoufer Board Member Ralph Grella Treasurer Tom Haddorff Vice President Sid Maxwell Sid then presented a Special Award to Wayne Frederick for all of the above plaques as well as all of the plaques that Wayne has made for us during the past flying season. And lets not forget all of those beautiful frequency pins that we use at the field, those are Wayne s too. Sid had prepared unique plaques for most mid-airs (planes) and most heli crashes. He called these awards the Crash Corrigan awards. He had collaborated with Wayne Frederick to make these plaques that

depicted a crashed P-51 and a crashed Cobra Heli. The Most Mid-airs went to John Reade (can you believe 6 mid-airs?) and the Most Heli Crashes went to Guy Nicholas. We all had a good laugh as John and Guy accepted their awards. I then presented Guy with the Club Gavel in the passing the gavel ceremony and Guy then introduced the new Officers for 2005. Treasurer Brian Blackburn Vice President Brody Carlson This concluded the program for recognition and awards and we proceeded with the Christmas Party Raffle. 4 The Gals went first with Gift Certificates at the Santa Rosa Mall, and the winners were: Suzanne Cole Darlene Frederick Evelyn Sweeden Ann Leech Norah Alvarez Sean Williams Steve Cole showed up with a special gift prize that we hadn t planned for. Steve donated a 60 size Harrier 3-D ARF kit by Seagull Models which was by far the most desirable prize of the evening. Thanks again, Steve! SIX MID-AIRS!!!!!!! And the Harrier was won by: Patrick O Halloran The rest of the Gift Certificates for $100 each from either Hangar One Hobbies or Awesome Hobbies were won by: Brian Blackburn Ron Rafanelli John Reade Julio Alvarez Sid Maxwell Brian Melani The end of the Raffle was the conclusion of the Party, but here are a few of the shots of the evening.

5 Now there is a happy Father-son combo Kenn Melani and Brian the winner! Patrick s a Happy camper! MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE VP Well everybody...santa's coming and that great time of year is here again!!! It's Christmas and I would like to wish everyone a very special Merry Christmas. This is a happy time of year for us flyers because we have Christmas all year long. Every day is Christmas for us when we get home from the hobby shop. You know that's one reason why we love this hobby so much. So when Christmas comes it reminds us of the whole year. Merry Christmas all. As the year comes to an end, I will be leaving as Vice President. The new guys coming in, Guy Nicholas, Brody Carlson, Brian Blackburn along with Larry Miller are ready, willing and able. So good luck you guys and lets give them all the help we can. It's been a good year, a fun year and I have enjoyed being Vice President. See ya at the field Sid Maxwell Vice President
