LAVALETTE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH LAVA-LETTER Each Week at LUMC Sundays 9:45 am Fellowship Time 10 am Sunday School 11 am Worship 6 pm Bike Group meets at the Smith s house (weather permitting) Tuesdays 5:30 pm AA Meeting Wednesdays 7:00 pm Choir Practice We welcome Rev. Ray and Elaine Stonestreet to Lavalette UMC! A welcoming dinner is in the works. Be on the lookout for a time and date in the next few weeks. YARD SALE Saturday, August 5th 7 -? Start collecting items but don t bring them to the church yet! A LITTLE INTRODUCTION My name is Raymond Stonestreet. My wife, Elaine, and I have been appointed to serve with you at Lavalette UMC. Though we have never met before moving here, we have heard a lot of great things about you from some of your former pastors and their families. We are excited and happy to be appointed to such a wonderful church. Elaine and I have been married for 27 1/2 years. We have two adult children Ashley and Del, who still reside in our home county; Kanawha. Del is married to our favorite daughter-in-law, Latasha, and they are expecting their first child, our first grandchild, around September-October of this year. I began in the ministry as a Lay Speaker in my local church; Baber Agee UMC. After a few years, I finally answered my calling to pastoral ministry and served as the Assigned Supply at Van UMC, where I served for two years. Once I had finished about two-thirds of seminary, I was assigned as a part-time local pastor to the Fisher Valley Charge for one year, and then Kee Street UMC the following year as a full-time local pastor. I served Kee Street for three years when I was also appointed Stinson UMC as well. We served the twopoint charge, as well as being the Princeton Parish Coordinator, for one year prior to being appointed to Lavalette UMC. I am currently a Provisional Elder in my third year of residency, which means I will be seeking ordination as a Full Elder at the 2018 Annual Conference. Prayerfully this will occur without delay, as I am quite tired of writing long responses to Wesley s historic questions. We look forward and are excited to experience what God has in store for all of us while at Lavalette UMC. We look forward to getting to know each of you and hear your stories of how God is working in your lives. Shalom, Ray JULY 2017
