Rejoice in the Lord, O ye rihteous. The Readin from the Epistle of St. Paul to the Ephesians. (4:7-13) BRETHREN, race was iven to each of us accordin to the measure of Christ s ift. Therefore it is said, When He ascended on hih He led a host of captives, and He ave ifts to men. (In sayin, He ascended, what does it mean but that He had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is He who also ascended far above all the heavens, that He miht fill all thins.) And His ifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evanelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for buildin up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowlede of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. THE GOSPEL (For the Sunday after Theophany of Christ) The readin from the Holy Gospel accordin to St. Matthew. (4:12-17) AT THAT TIME, when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee; and leavin Nazareth he went and dwelt in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulon and Naphtali, so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah miht be fulfilled: The land of Zebulon and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles the people who sat in darkness have seen a reat liht, and for those who sat in the reion and shadow of death liht has dawned. From that time Jesus bean to preach, sayin, Repent, for the kindom of Heaven is at hand. Thouht for the Day No one will ever find true happiness and perfect prosperity without God or outside God. Call the Church office at (610) 439-1232 weekdays. Understandin the readin of Commemorations durin the Great Entrance It has been the practice at St. Geore Church and in most other Antiochian Orthodox parishes in America, as well to commemorate the names of the faithful the livin and the departed durin the Great Entrance of the Divine Litury. These are the names of loved ones submitted by the faithful whom they wish to be remembered durin the litury each week. Sometimes the names are submitted for one week only, and at other times they are asked to be commemorated week after week. In submittin names of loved ones what we are really askin for is that they be remembered durin the Proskomedia the small service which is done before Orthros by the priest and the deacon where the prosphora (the specially prepared bread that will be used durin the litury) is prepared and placed upon the discos before it is brouht out durin the Divine Litury and placed upon the altar. When the names of the faithful to be commemorated are read by the deacon durin Proskomedia, the priest places a small particle from one of the prosphora on the discos for each name; thus all of the particles taken out of the prosphora are arraned in such a way that they symbolize all of the faithful (livin and deceased), toether with the Theotokos and all of the saints and anels athered around Christ. In other words, the Lamb and all of the particles taken from the prosphora represent the entire Church. When names of our loved ones are submitted to be commemorated in the litury, it is really here, that they are remembered. In fact, when the priest returns to the altar after havin distributed Holy Communion to the faithful, all of the particles are swept in the chalice with the words, Wash away, O Lord, the sins of all those remembered herein.

Pick up your 2017 contribution envelopes today Our 2017 contribution envelopes are available for you to pick up in the church hall. The contribution envelopes are arraned by number, so if you know your envelope number, it will help you find your box. All contribution envelopes are labeled with your name and address. Please check this label to make sure you have the correct box. Help the church avoid the hih cost of postae by not mailin your envelopes. 451 Chew St., Suite 306 Allentown, PA 18102 Call (610) 351-9244 for appointment Diabetic Foot Care Inrown Toe Nails Wound Care or Ulcers Medicare Required Diabetic Screenins Calluses Corns Tendonitis Orthotics Warts Neuropathy Heel Pain Arch Pain Ankle Pain Most insurances accepted SIMON G.
