The Loveletter Sharing the Love and Joy of Christ Sharing the Love and Joy of Christ Dear Friends, We find ourselves immersed in Lent and moving toward Holy Week and Easter, the peak of the Christian church year. These events are the center of our faith and demonstrate God s abundant and saving love. The members of the Session hope and pray that your hearts and minds are open to the blessing of the Holy Spirit. We are all familiar with the lessons learned by Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. He kept the spirit of Christmas all year through. Let us all keep the spirit of Easter as well. The celebration won t end on April 16. The power of Jesus resurrection as a sign of our forgiveness is our daily reality. What difference can it make if we keep the spirit of Easter? We can take the hope, joy, truth and generosity represented by the resurrection into the world with us every day. Imagine the wonderful things that can be accomplished as you let the life of Christ flow into all your relationships and every aspect of your life. From the Session At the March 21 stated meeting moderated by Rev. Zeta Lamberson, the session voted to place Dr. Chris Jones on a 3 week leave of absence during a time of negotiation regarding his call. The session received information that the presbytery has appointed an Administrative Commission to assist in finding a reasonable resolution regarding the change of call for Dr. Jones to this church, to work with both parties to negotiate a separation agreement, and help in the coming months to foster healing in the congregation. The session received the resignations Katie Jones, Aubri Gardner, and Lindsay Cagle from the Preschool, Katie Orth and Aubri Gardner from the youth program, and Elder Velma Tilley as Clerk of Session. Beth Weathersby was appointed to the position of Interim Preschool Director through the end of the school year. As per our newly adopted Officer Nominating Committee selection process, two appointments were made by Dr. Jones and the session approved Mark Bridges (session) and Nannette Enloe (Diaconate) to serve on the Officer Nomination Committee.
