Students learn to use POWER words in writing. They also enjoy the Treasure Map of IDEAS that Mrs. Cutler provided to scaffold, motivate, and prompt writing. Students go nuts over contractions. They will build them and then use them in a sentence on whiteboards. An early finisher escapes to the Treehouse reading loft!
Seventh Grade Fourth Grade Students use prompting cards with questions to help them focus on key targets while reading independently. These prompts help hold them accountable for their reading. Fifth Grade Students explain their learning objective as they create a large map of the United States. They are recreating the Lewis and Clark Trail as a unit with Ms. McCauley. What makes it special is that they not only make ties to the real world, but they become Lewis and Clark. This makes learning more relevant, and increases rigor! October 31 st is also remembered as Reformation Day in the Lutheran Church. This coming year marks the 500 th year of the day Marin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the Castle Church door in Wittenberg, Germany. Martin Luther disagreed with several teachings of the Roman Catholic Church including the selling of indulgences to the people for repentance by the church. He believed The church s true treasure is Gospel of Jesus Christ. Martin Luther is also known for translating the Bible from Greek into German so the common people would be able to read God s Word as well. He also wrote the famous hymn A Might Fortress is Our
God and is known as The Battle Hymn of the Reformation. PRAYER: We pray Lord that our Trinity Lutheran School family s example would point others toward God. We pray that our teachers, students, and families would be a shining light of hope and of your love for others.
