June 7, 2015 Trinity Sunday Prelude Announcements, Birthdays and Anniversaries: Processional Hymn:

The Gathering of the Community: Book of Alternative Services... page 185 All stand. The presiding celebrant greets the community. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. People: And also with you. Or from Easter Day through the Day of Pentecost, Alleluia! Christ is risen. People: The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia! May His grace and peace be with you. People: May He fill our hearts with joy. The following prayer may be said. All: Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your Holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen. Gloria: All: Glory to God in the highest, Book of Alternative Services... page 186

and peace to his people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King, Almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us; you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the Glory of God the Father. Amen. The Collect The Lessons: Old Testatment: 1 Samuel 8:4-20 Holman Christian Standard Bible 4 So all the elders of Israel gathered together and went to Samuel at Ramah. 5 They said to him, Look, you are old, and your sons do not follow your example. Therefore, appoint a king to judge us the same as all the other nations have. 6 When they said, Give us a king to judge us, Samuel considered their demand sinful, so he prayed to the Lord. 7 But the Lord told him, Listen to the people and everything they say to you. They have not rejected you; they have rejected Me as their king. 8 They are doing the same thing to you that they have done to Me,[a] since the day I brought them out of Egypt until this day, abandoning Me and worshiping other gods. 9 Listen to them, but you must solemnly warn them and tell them about the rights of the king who will rule over them. 10 Samuel told all the Lord s words to the people who were asking him for a king. 11 He said, These are the rights of the king who will rule over you: He will take your sons and put them to his use in his chariots, on his horses, or running in front of his chariots.

12 He can appoint them for his use as commanders of thousands or commanders of fifties, to plough his ground or reap his harvest, or to make his weapons of war or the equipment for his chariots. 13 He can take your daughters to become perfumers, cooks, and bakers. 14 He can take your best fields, vineyards, and olive orchards and give them to his servants. 15 He can take a tenth of your grain and your vineyards and give them to his officials and servants. 16 He can take your male servants, your female servants, your best young men,[b] and your donkeys and use them for his work. 17 He can take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves can become his servants. 18 When that day comes, you will cry out because of the king you ve chosen for yourselves, but the Lord won t answer you on that day. 19 The people refused to listen to Samuel. No! they said. We must have a king over us. 20 Then we ll be like all the other nations: our king will judge us, go out before us, and fight our battles.

Psalm: Psalm 138 1 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, with my whole heart; * before the gods I will sing your praise. 2 I will bow down toward your holy temple and praise your name, * because of your love and faithfulness; 3 For you have glorified your name * and your word above all things. 4 When I called, you answered me; * you increased my strength within me. 5 All the kings of the earth will praise you, O Lord, * when they have heard the words of your mouth. 6 They will sing of the ways of the Lord, * that great is the glory of the Lord. 7 Though the Lord be high, he cares for the lowly; * he perceives the haughty from afar. 8 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you keep me safe; * you stretch forth your hand against the fury of my enemies; your right hand shall save me. 9 The Lord will make good his purpose for me; * O Lord, your love endures for ever; do not abandon the works of your hands. Epistle: God of creation and fulfilment, help us to seek and discover your purposes, that we may become willing instruments of your grace, and that all the world may come to love and praise your name, in the kingdom of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1 Holman Christian Standard Bible 13 And since we have the same spirit of faith in keeping with what is written, I believed, therefore I spoke,[a] we also believe, and therefore speak. 14 We know that the One who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and present us with you.

15 Indeed, everything is for your benefit, so that grace, extended through more and more people, may cause thanksgiving to increase to God s glory. 16 Therefore we do not give up. Even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person is being renewed day by day. 17 For our momentary light affliction[b] is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. 18 So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Our Future after Death 5:1 For we know that if our temporary, earthly dwelling[c] is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal dwelling[d] in the heavens, not made with hands. Gradual Solo: Ana Petryk How Beautiful Are The Feet... Handel Gospel: Mark 3:20-35 A House Divided Holman Christian Standard Bible 20 Then He went home, and the crowd gathered again so that they were not even able to eat.[a] 21 When His family heard this, they set out to restrain Him, because they said, He s out of His mind. 22 The scribes who had come down from Jerusalem said, He has Beelzebul in Him! and, He drives out demons by the ruler of the demons! 23 So He summoned them and spoke to them in parables: How can Satan drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan rebels against himself and is divided, he cannot stand but is finished![b]

27 On the other hand, no one can enter a strong man s house and rob his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he will rob his house. 28 I assure you: People will be forgiven for all sins[c] and whatever blasphemies they may blaspheme. 29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin [d] 30 because they were saying, He has an unclean spirit. True Relationships 31 Then His mother and His brothers came, and standing outside, they sent word to Him and called Him. 32 A crowd was sitting around Him and told Him, Look, Your mother, Your brothers, and Your sisters[e] are outside asking for You. 33 He replied to them, Who are My mother and My brothers? 34 And looking about at those who were sitting in a circle around Him, He said, Here are My mother and My brothers! 35 Whoever does the will of God is My brother and sister and mother. Gospel Acclamation: Homily: Apostles Creed: The Rev d Quenton Little Book of Alternative Services... page 189-190 Let us confess the faith of our baptism as we say,

All: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of Heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Prayers and Intercessions Confession and Absolution: Book of Alternative Services... page 191 The following prayers may be used here if the Penetential Rite was not used before the Gathering of the Community, or if penitential intercessions were not used in the Prayers of the People. The people are invited to confession in these or similar words. Dear friends Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy; he welcomes sinners and invites them to his table. Let us confess our sins, confident in God s forgiveness. Silence is kept. All: Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.

For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen. Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. People: Amen The Peace Offertory Hymn: Sung Offertory Response: Prayer over the Gifts Eucharistic Prayer Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus... page 461 All things come of Thee, O Lord, and of Thine own have we given Thee. Amen. No. 2 Book of Alternative Services... page 196 The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Lift up your heads. People: We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

All: We give you thanks and praise, Almighty God, through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Redeemer. He is your living Word, through whom you have created all things. By the power of the Holy Spirit he took flesh of the Virgin Mary and shared our human nature. He lived and died as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all. In fulfilment of your will he stretched out his hands in suffering to bring release to those who place their hope in you; and so he won for you a holy people. He chose to bear our griefs and sorrows, and to give up his life on the cross, that have might shatter the chains of evil and death, and banish the darkness of sin and despair. By his resurrection he brings us into the light of your presence. Now with all creation we raise our voices to proclaim the glory of your name. Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Holy and gracious God, accept our praise, through your Son and Saviour Jesus Christ; who on the night he was handed over to suffering and death, took bread and gave you thanks, saying, Take, and eat: this is my body which is broken for you. In the same way he took the cup, saying, This is my blood which is shed for you. When you do this, you do it in memory of me. Remembering, therefore, his death and resurrection, we offer you this bread and this cup, giving thanks that you have made us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you. We ask you to send you Holy Spirit upon the offering of your holy Church. Gather into one all who share in these sacred mysteries, filling them with the Holy Spirit and confirming their faith in the truth, that together we may praise you and give you glory through your Servant, Jesus Christ.

All glory and honour are yours, Father and Son, with the Holy Spirit in the holy Church, now and for ever. People: Amen The service continues with the Lord s Prayer on page 211.

The Breaking of Bread No. 2 Book of Alternative Services... page 212 The celebrant breaks the consecrated bread for distribution, and may say one of the following: We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. All: We, being many, are one body, for we all share in the one bread. The Agnus Dei The Administration of Communion: Please note that if you are a baptized Christian and receive in your own tradition, you are welcomed to receive Holy Communion. Hymn During Communion: Please join us in singing Song Book Just a Closer Walk With Thee... 90

Prayer After Communion Celebrant Let us pray. Book of Alternative Services... 214 Standing, the community prays in silence. The celebrant may say the Prayer after Communion appointed for the day. At the conclusion of the prayer the congregation says, Amen. Then the following doxology may be said. Celebrant All Glory to God, whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen.

Or instead of the Prayer after Communion and the doxology, the following may be said. Celebrant All All your works praise you, Oh Lord. And your faithful servants bless you. Gracious God we thank you for feeding us with the body and blood of your Son, Jesus Christ. May we, who share his body, live his risen life; we, who drink his cup, bring life to others; we whom the Spirit lights, give light to the world. Keep us firm in the hop you have set before us, so that we and all your children shall be free, and the whole earth live to praise your name; through Christ our Lord. Amen. Recessional Hymn: The Dismissal: Amazing Grace... 352 Book of Alternative Services... 215 The celebrant may bless the people. The deacon, or other leader, dismisses the people saying in these or similar words, Go forth in the name of Christ. People Thanks be to God. Or the following: Leader Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. People Thanks be to God. Or the following: Leader Go forth into the world rejoicing in the power of the Spirit. People
