Ever in his footsteps treading, living here, yet home above, full of faith and hope and love, Let us do our Father s bidding, faithful Lord, abide with me; Savior lead, I follow thee. Let us also die with Jesus, by his cross he conquered death,. Freed us from our soul s destruction, quickened us with life s new breath. Let us mortify while living, self and pride, and die to sin, and the grave that shuts us in Shall but prove the gate to heaven. Jesus, here I die to thee, there to dwell eternally. Let us gladly live with Jesus, he is risen from the dead. Death is swallowed up in victory, Jesus, thou art now our head. Living members of thy Body, where thou livest, we shall be, Thou wilt keep us constantly, so dear Lord, come quickly, Jesus, here I live to thee. There to dwell eternally. Let us ever walk with Jesus. Text by Sigismund von Birken, 1653; music by Georg Boltze, 18th cent.; arr. Dan Forrest, Hinshaw Music 2012. Chorus CCLI Song # 2456623; Words & Music by B. Foote; 1996 worshiptogether.com songs; CCLI License #152421 CONFESSION OF SIN Father in Heaven, Giver of Life, we confess our sins to you. You left your throne and gave us yourself, yet we waste our time dwelling on the things we do not have. You have blessed us with countless good gifts, yet we turn our eyes in envy to the gifts you have given others. Forgive us for failing to see the priceless blessing we have in your Son. Forgive us for comparing ourselves to others instead of resting in the reality that we are your beloved children. As you surrendered your power and glory for our sake, help us now to surrender our hearts and lives to you. By your Spirit, guard us from the seeds of bitter envy that can ruin relationships. Help us instead to love others as you have loved us: mourning with those who mourn, and rejoicing with those who rejoice. In Christ s name we pray, Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON PSALM 103:11-12 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. GIVING OF THE PEACE Leader: Because Christ has removed our transgressions from us, we now have peace with God and with one another. May the peace of Christ be with you! People: And also with you! 3
