WHO IS WELCOME IN ST. SAVIOUR CHURCH? Are you a sinner? Have you been away from the church for a long time? Are you divorced or separated? Are you physically or mentally challenged? Are you from a different culture? Are you not accepted because of your sexual orientation? Are you elderly, a teen or young adult? Are you discriminated against because of your color? Are you feeling broken? Are you poor or out of work? Have you been imprisoned? Have you a feeling that you are left out? You are welcome here! This is your home, and we are your family!

April 15, 2018 Stewardship April 8 A FEW WORDS FROM OUR PASTOR I am still in awe at how beautiful and prayerful each of our celebrations were during Holy Week. Many people worked very hard at making sure everything was just right so that YOU the people of our parish family would have a most prayerful experience. My sincerest thanks to our church maintenance man Adrian for assisting us in making sure everything was set in place. My thanks to Audrey Belsito and Father Kevin for decorating our church for each of the services during Holy Week as always, they did a great job! My thanks to Geri Anne O Beirne and Stephen Jankowski for coordinating our Altar Servers and taking care of everything in the sacristy. My thanks to the choir, who did an outstanding job leading us in song throughout Holy Week and our Sacred Triduum. Father Kevin and I received so many compliments from many parishioners about how beautiful the music was at each of our liturgical celebrations, and we are most grateful to Chris Berrios, our Director of Music Ministry, for the incredible job he did with the music and for bringing everything together so beautifully. My thanks to our Lectors, who really outdid themselves proclaiming the Word of God at each of our celebrations; thanks also to our Ushers and Ministers of Hospitality, who greeted everyone and made sure everyone had a seat (the crowds this year were spectacular!). I also want to thank our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion for their assistance, and a word of thanks to our Altar Servers, who each did an outstanding job throughout the Triduum. We are also grateful to our twelve Apostles who allowed us to wash their feet on Holy Thursday as a symbolic gesture of the loving service we are challenged to render to our sisters and brothers in Christ. Thank you also to Father Kevin for presiding at our celebration on Good Friday and challenging us through the words of his homily. We are truly a blessed parish to have so many people who really love Saint Saviour Parish - and who work tirelessly to make our parish the wonderful place it truly is! Finally, I want to thank YOU our loyal parishioners - for choosing to pray with us throughout Holy Week and Easter Sunday. We are so glad you are here and remember EVERYONE is welcome here at Saint Saviour Parish as there will ALWAYS be a place for YOU at our table! Don t forget that today our parish welcomes back Bishop Raymond Chappetto, the Vicar General of our Diocese, who will celebrate our 11:30 a.m. Mass and then bless and rededicate our new front stairs to the church. On Friday afternoon, April 20, our parish welcomes back Bishop Alfonso Cabezas, CM, who will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to our young people at 4:00 p.m. ALL the members of our parish family are welcome and invited to join us for both of these celebrations here at Saint Saviour Parish. Have a great week everyone. Father Frank Offertory $6,831.00 Attendance

BLESSING OF OUR NEW STAIRS Today, April 15th, our parish will welcome back Bishop Raymond Chappetto, the Vicar General of our Diocese, who will celebrate our 11:30 a.m. Celebration of Eucharist. Following Eucharist, we will all process outside to the front of Church, where Bishop Chappetto will bless and rededicate our new church stairs. This is a historic moment in the life of our parish and it is our fervent hope that ALL the members of our parish will plan on joining us for this special liturgy and blessing. We are even inviting all the children from our Faith Formation Program to attend this special liturgy. SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION Bishop Alphonso Cabezas, CM, will be coming to Saint Saviour Parish to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to our teenagers this Friday afternoon, April 20th, beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the church. Bishop Cabezas is a dear friend of Father Kevin and Father Frank and we are thrilled he has accepted our invitation to return to Saint Saviour this year. ALL the members of our parish family are welcome and encouraged to attend. Sacraments are communal celebrations of faith and ALL are invited to join us. We feel it is important that our entire parish come out and support our young people both in prayer and by your presence. No tickets are necessary. ST. SAVIOUR BOOK GROUP The St. Saviour book group meets on Wednesday from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM to discuss Lincoln in the Bardo: A Novel by George Saunders. How Will Our Parish Benefit? Each year St. Saviour R.C. Church and the Diocese of Brooklyn engage in the Annual Catholic Appeal which supports Catholic programs throughout Brooklyn and Queens and effects the lives of countless individuals and families living in our neighborhoods. The Annual Catholic Appeal seeks to raise a minimum of $8 million to provide programs and ministries throughout the Diocese and support the local efforts of parishes like ours. What are the objectives of the Annual Catholic Appeal? The Lord calls us all to care for one another and the church. It is up to us to answer that call in the ways we know how. Those who are hungry, without shelter, without access to Catholic education, men discerning the priesthood and those who are ill and dying are just a few of the groups who depend upon our generosity to the Annual Catholic Appeal. Your gift to the Appeal is a response in love to serve our neighbors by funding the ministries of the Diocese of Brooklyn that cannot be supported by any one parish alone but benefit all parishes in our Diocese. You can answer the call of Jesus who asks us to feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, visit the sick and imprisoned, honor our mother and father, celebrate the Eucharist and educate and make disciples of all nations through your donation to the 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal. Why is my participation important? St. Saviour has always counted on the broad-based support of its parishioners to accomplish its fundraising objectives, particularly for the weekly offertory. This appeal also needs that broad-based support. All households are asked to consider a gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal (over and above their continued annual support of the parish in the weekly collection) over the next ten (10) months. What is next for the Annual Catholic Appeal and how can we help? The goal at St. Saviour R.C. Church is 56,576.00 Once we exceed our goal, we will then receive 100% of all funds raised above this figure directly back to our parish. Answer the Call to: feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, visit the sick and imprisoned, honor our elders, celebrate the Eucharist and educate and make disciples of all nations! For questions regarding the Annual Catholic Appeal, or to schedule an appointment to make a gift to the parish, please contact the Parish Office (718-768-4055) In the coming weeks, every family will be invited to participate in this appeal and prayerfully consider a pledge. Please join with us to respond to those in Brooklyn and Queens who are in need, and support the important work of our Diocese through a pledge to the Annual Catholic Appeal today. ANSWER THE CALL Thank you and God bless you.
