Confessing our Great Need and His Great Provision: Call to Confession 1 John 2:3-6 We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His commands. The man who says, I know Him, but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys His word, God s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in Him: whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did. Silent Prayer of Confession and Repentance God s Assurance of Pardon for His People 1 John 1:8-2:2 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His Word has no place in our lives. My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only ours but also for the sins of the whole world. Confessing our Dependence upon the Lord Through Prayer Congregational Prayer; The Lord s Prayer The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. Confessing God s Provision Through the Giving of our Tithes and Offerings Doxology (#731) Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heav nly host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. Words by Thomas Ken, 1709. Music attributed to Louis Bourgeois, 1551. Receiving His Word: John 14:15, 21, 23-24 (p. 901) What True Love for Jesus Looks Like 15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. 21 Whoever has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to Him. 23 Jesus answered him, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and make our home with him. Whoever does not love Me does not keep My words. And the word that you hear is not Mine, but the Father s who sent Me.

CCLI #1425482 Song of Response: How Deep the Father s Love For Us (Black pew songbook) How deep the Father s love for us, how vast beyond all measure That He should give His only Son to make a wretch His treasure How great the pain of searing loss. The Father turns His face away As wounds which mar the chosen One, bring many sons to glory Behold the Man upon the cross, my sin upon His shoulders Ashamed I hear my mocking voice call out among the scoffers It was my sin that held Him there until it was accomplished His dying breath has brought me life. I know that it is finished I will not boast in anything: no gifts, no pow r, no wisdom But I will boast is Jesus Christ: His death and resurrection Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart: His wounds have paid my ransom Words and music by Stuart Townsend. Copyright, 1995, Thankyou Music. Used by permission.
