Note From Jeanne Voltz-Loomis: With sadness and excitement, I am announcing my last day as Director of the Child Development Ministry on February 22. I have taken a position with S.C. First Steps as a Regional Coordinator for SC First Steps 4K. For the last 19 years, it has been both a pleasure and an immense blessing to serve as Director of the Child Development Ministry. The relationships I enjoy with the staff and the families, both current and former, have enriched my life, as well as the lives of my two daughters. This decision has not been an easy one, but the CDM staff is well-grounded and cohesive, working together as an amazing team for children and their families. Cindy Johnson has agreed to serve as Interim Director. Cindy has a heart for children and for the ministry that CDM is to the church and community. Cindy is well-respected and loved in our First Church family, and I m sure you will agree she will do an excellent job. I covet your prayers as I take what I have learned during my time at CDM and move into the larger community. I will continue to be a part of my church family and the life of CDM in this new position. Grace and peace, Jeanne Voltz-Loomis Note from Rev. Dr. William Buddy Phillips Jeanne has served the CDM honorably, as thousands of children have passed through, for 19 years. We will miss her contributions on staff. I and the staff wish her many blessings in her new endeavors. Rev. Dr. William Buddy Phillips and FUMC staff. Sunday School Celebration It is such a joy to be a part of this wonderful First Church family! Last Sunday we had 385 people involved in our Sunday School programs, in our birth through older adult classes! This is a wonderful representation of how Christ is growing and moving in our congregation! As we continue to grow and celebrate the risen Savior together, Rev. Buddy Phillips has challenged our congregation to achieve 400 participants in Sunday School! If we achieve 400 participants in Sunday School, we will host a church wide celebration together! First Church you are the hands and feet of Christ in this portion of God s kingdom. I encourage you to continue to grow in your own faith, and continue to reach out to others and invite them to join in our wonderful Christian Education ministry!! Blessings, Emily Kirby Big Tom s A Quote You can t make God stop loving you because God s love is not based on who you are but on who He is. ~ Pastor Rick
