The Coming Kingdom Chapter 12

Transcription:

An outline of Ezekiel: Chapters 1 24: The Lord s prophecies against Israel and Judah; (1) Chapter 25: prophecies against 4 neighbors: Ammon, Moab, Edom east of Jordan, Philistia the western coastline; (3) Chapter 26 28: judgment on Tyre in Lebanon, its overthrow; a funeral song; its leader s downfall, and a funeral song for its real king, lastly judgment on Sidon. (4) Chapter 29 32: judgment on Egypt; description of judgment; comparison to Assyria; a funeral song over Egypt. Chapter 33: appointing watchmen on the wall; Chapter 34: firing all the shepherds / the hired pastors; the LORD will do the job. (2) Chapter 35-36: judgment begins at the household of God; but extends to the irksome neighbors; God always looks for love freely given. Much of this but not all was local history 2500 years ago. In chapter 35, Ezekiel spoke to Mount Seir, the mountainous region SW of the Dead Sea where lived the Edomites Petra was their capital descendants of Esau, meaning: Red, twin brother to Jacob; so they are cousins of Israel and Judah; yet they were engaged in endless conflict with each other. Ezekiel and Obadiah speak to Edom = Esau their doom is certain; their envy and hatred for Israel and Judah left them perpetually desolate. And now, we read 2 distinct prophecies given to Ezekiel. Prophecy 1: 1 Also you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel / at first glance, we think of the home of Israel, the previous tenants of the region who were supposed to be governed by God; but were temporarily removed due to their faithlessness to Him; this prophecy speaks to them, but notice the word is plural mountains speak of several high places where Israel resettled Ephraim would become a community of nations; Manasseh would become a great nation the promise given to both half-egyptian brothers would include becoming principal characters at the center of the earth and there were 10 tribes, so how about the others? where are these mountains of Israel? Perhaps, Ezekiel didn t know, but just maybe God only needed the prophecy recorded, because 2500 years later the ability to find out where they went would be available; and each doing their part, the Lord spoke to his faithful prophet, and say, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD: 2 Thus says the Lord GOD; Because the enemy mistakenly said of you, Aha! The ancient high places are our possession: in the previous chapter we learned: Israel s humiliation would only be temporary; but do to their faulty belief, Edom s would be perpetual. 3 Therefore prophesy and say, Thus says the Lord GOD / because God is going to set the record straight; and clear up any confusion; Precisely because they made you desolate, and crushed you from every side, that you became a possession of the rest of the nations, and you became the talk and evil gossip of the nations: 1 ilibros.net internacional 2012

4 Therefore, O mountains of Israel / O ancient high places wherever they are, who seem to be deposed; what the Lord God says to you, He will say to every piece and parcel of the land temporarily vacated be it high or low, significant or insignificant it was first promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains and hills, the ravines and valleys; the desolate waste places and abandoned cities, which became a prey and derision / speaking about ghost town Samaria, which became a joke to the rest of the nations that surround it / tragically for the last 2500 years it s still a joke. And you would think someone had read the Book; but if they cannot read, some 4th grader could read the Book for them; at least to find out if they should become squatters and make permanent plans or not. Because Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and all the others all said the same thing; 5 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Surely in the heat of My jealousy I spoke against the rest of the nations, and against all Idumea / all Edom is recipient and will feel the heat of the jealous wrath of God; Herod was an Idumean, who have wrongly appropriated My land for their possession with their wholehearted joy and utter contempt, to make it their prey / just imagine if hordes from the Middle East and North Africa plundered Rome? Or any other country? Oh, you know like we see happening in the 21st century. 6 Therefore, prophesy concerning the land of Israel, / the land promised to Abraham is in focus; and say to the mountains, and the hills, to the ravines, and the valleys / say to them all from the highest places to the lowest places that were vacated by Israel because of their faithlessness, because the land is in focus, Thus says the Lord GOD / realize, the Lord God the Creator is speaking to His creation; He can speak and say Light Be He can speak to a fig tree and curse it in this case He speaks to the land promised to specific descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob Behold, because I spoke to you in My zealous wrath, you bore the shame of the nations / the land endured the insults of those who were not promised it; those who fill it with the trailer-trash of the nations; be they foreign or domestic, who presume and heap up, and violate the clear word of God first spoken through all the prophets and this is still true about those in the land today, having rejected the Chief cornerstone; as the godless and religiously goofy outnumber the God-fearing remnant, as they continue to bring their manmade traditions to the land which simply indicates this prophecy still has a future fulfillment: 2 ilibros.net internacional 2012

7 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD / as Creator to His creation; and Caretaker of His own I lift My hand / the Creator is speaking to His creation in sign language; but He probably is multi-tasking and the onlookers who have enough sense, who might not know Hebrew will also understand. STOP or I PROMISE or both; for surely the nations that surround you, will bear their own shame / in other words, He hears all His creation still groaning, and it might look like God is unconcerned at the present about those trampling in His land, but in due time He will get to them, too. For now, He is dealing with people He chose who were given an assignment by Him; who had direct access to Him; people who are highly blessed but very stupid, who misappropriate their unique position for self-gain rather than for the benefit of the rest of the world. 8 But you, O mountains of Israel, put forth your branches, and produce your fruit / wherever the tribes of Israel went from there they will begin to stretch toward the ancient land promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob with mutual productivity for the benefit of the massive, joyous return in spirit and in truth. King David said, pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and work for its prosperity; Psalm 122 are appropriate actions that fulfill this verse; for My people Israel; for they will come soon. 9 For behold, I am for you, and I will return to you, and you will be tilled and sown / and the return has begun, it is being worked over and planted: 10 And I will multiply people on you / the land is in focus; the land of Israel, the whole house of Israel / so not just the Jewish people of Judah, all of it / all those governed by God notice the double emphasis; God repeats Himself just in case some hardhead wasn t listening the people are coming and they re excited: the cities will be inhabited, and the wasted places will be built: 3 ilibros.net internacional 2012

11 And I will multiply on you man and beast; and they will increase and be fruitful: I will settle you as in your former times / it was their own faithlessness to the Lord GOD that had unsettled the people of Israel 2700 years ago; only 2000 years ago the people of Judah, and will do you more good than at first / the queen of Arabia marveled at the scope of the kingdom; its half had not been told 2 Kings 10: and you will know that I am the LORD / all this kindness was because the Lord is a good Teacher. The Creator continues to speak to this portion of His creation 12 Yes, I will cause men to tread upon you again / this former territory first promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will be walked on again; and who are these people who will be treading? Read on even My people Israel; they will possess you, and you will be their inheritance and they will no more leave it childless / they will no more leave their property; remember Ezekiel first spoke these words of promise while in Babylon; so, those in ancient Iraq or Iran heard all these grand words of promise before all the rest of us, but was anybody listening? Apparently, not. 13 Thus says the Lord GOD; because they say, you devour Adam s race, and deprive the nation of its children: 14 Therefore you will no more devour Adam s race, nor leave the nation childless, says the Lord GOD. 15 nor will I let you hear in you the insults of the nations any more, and you will no more bear the insults of the people, nor cause the nations to stumble any more, says the Lord GOD. Prophecy 2: 16 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, 17 Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their own land, they defiled it by their ways and deeds: their way before Me was like the filthiness of a woman in her menstrual uncleanness. 4 ilibros.net internacional 2012

18 So I poured My wrath on them for the blood that they shed in the land, and for their idols with which they polluted it / can you imagine? These people transgressed the commandments of God and thought they could get away with idol worship much like the roman churchianity with all her wannabe former protestant -- new day admirers; lovers of traditions more than lovers of God: 19 I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the countries: according to their ways and their deeds I judged them / and that is what He is still doing to the House of Israel for the last 2,500 years. 20 But when they entered the nations, wherever they went, they profaned / treated as common My Holy Name; when people said of them, These are the people of the LORD? yet they went out of His land / more clearly, yet they were kicked out of His land. 21 But I had concern for My Holy Name, which the house of Israel had profaned / they treated as common, ordinary, and rudely familiar among the nations, wherever they went. 22 Therefore say to the house of Israel, thus says the Lord GOD; I do this not for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for the sake of My Holy Name, which you have profaned among the nations, wherever you went. 23 And I will consecrate My Great Name, which was profaned among the nations, which you profaned among them; and the nations will know that I am the LORD, says the Lord GOD, when I am consecrated / dedicated, and specially set apart in you before their eyes. 24 I will take you from among the nations, and gather you from all countries, and bring you to your own land. 5 ilibros.net internacional 2012

25 I will sprinkle you with clean water, and you will be clean from all your filthiness, and I will clean you from all your idols / all the idols will be gone; trashed, washed away. 26 Also, I will give you a new heart, I will put a new spirit in you: I will remove the stony heart from your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put My Spirit in you, and cause you to walk in My statutes; you will keep My judgments, and do them. 28 And you will dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and you will be My people, and I will be your God. 29 I will also save you from all your filthiness: I will summon the grain, and it will increase, and lay no famine on you. 30 I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that you never again receive blame of famine among the nations. 31 Then you will remember your evil ways, and your deeds that were not good, and will see and loathe yourselves for your iniquities and your abominations. 32 Know this, I do this not for your sakes, says the Lord GOD: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel. 33 Thus says the Lord GOD; In the day that I clean you from all your iniquities, I will also cause the cities to be inhabited, and the wasted places will be rebuilt; 34 the desolate land will be tilled, where it lay desolate in the sight of all who passed by. 35 And they will say, This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden; WOW! 6 ilibros.net internacional 2012

and the wasted and desolate places and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. 36 Then the nations that surround you will know that I the LORD rebuilt the ruined places, and replanted that which was desolate: I the LORD have spoken, and I will do it / His words are not cheap; when He speaks, what He says He intends it to happen. He invites us to join Him; but He isn t a sluggard; He is a tireless Worker. 37 Thus says the Lord GOD; This also I will let the house of Israel / He will permit those governed by God so He is not just talking to the Jewish people of Judah; He is talking to all of us today. From the rising of the sun to its setting -- Malachi 1; anywhere, everywhere His Name is Great; where He is exalted. Because we know His Name, we are invited to call Him; and He will answer -- Psalm 91. This also I will let the house of those governed by God ask of Me, to do for them: I will increase their people like a flock. 38 Like the holy flock for sacrifices / they will not be like any flock of sheep; but those in His care, those that He shepherds who know their life is not their own; who daily live for the One who bought them; who live to do what He asked: like the One who paid the price for them, like the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed feasts / 3 feasts remain on His calendar to be fulfilled; they all are at the time of the Ingathering of the Harvest they are shadows of things to come; Messiah s flock who follow Him should joyously reflect that sacrificial life empowered by God s Spirit; prepared for God s purposes; offered daily like God s sheep in old Jerusalem; now as God s people who daily take up the cross; and offer our self by the renewing and refreshing and reconsidering of our minds that His will be done; who get to know Him and let Him win some battles; so the previously wasted cities will be filled with flocks of people: And since He is a good Father in heaven so He is not really like absent fathers on earth; He knows that His people are not sheep and He personally teaches His children because He expects them to grow up; so, hear it again: I will let the house of those governed by God ask of Me, to do for them: and they will know I am the LORD. 7 ilibros.net internacional 2012
