Pastor s Corner ~ It is with great sorrow that we have had to cancel our buses to the Papal Mass in September. Interest had dwindled when it was revealed that there might be some great walking distances from the bus drop-off points to the Mass site itself. The vast throngs expected and security concerns have made the situation extremely difficult. Instead, we hope to gather as fellow Catholics during that Mass and watch the Pope together on a large screen projection, perhaps in the gymnasium, followed by a pot-luck dinner. Details will need to be worked out and we hope to accomplish this and provide details in the future. On a similar note, while attending the Papal Mass might be very difficult, it might be beneficial for any and all of us to consider attending of the days of the World Meeting of Families being held between September 22 nd and 25 th. Traffic and other concerns should be lighter. Our society seems to be struggling right now to understand God s vision for families, so bolstering our beliefs and understanding of this vision can only help us in our own lives and in evangelizing the world around us. Great speakers will be there like Fr. Robert Barron (one of my personal favorites), Dr. Scott Hahn, Professor Helen Alvare (who has personal connections to the Philadelphia Archdiocese), Mr. Damon Owens (whom we are HOPING to get here in the future as a speaker), Mr. Christopher West, and many more. Please check out the website:www.worldmeeting2015.org for complete information. God bless the families of Sacred Heart Parish! Fr. Lange Stewardship Corner ~ We need to remember the first documented word that Jesus said when He began His ministry was Repent. It is also crucial to keep in mind that the original word Jesus said was metanoeo, the Greek word as reported in the Gospels. There are two parts to this word: the first, meta-, means change, and the second, -noeo, refers to the mind and its thoughts and perceptions. Thus, what Jesus was really saying to us was change your hearts and minds. This is what St. Paul is speaking about when he says we need to put away the old self and put on the new self. We are called to conversion; we are called to a change, a transformation that puts God at the center of our lives rather than self and all that goes with that self-centeredness. This is the stewardship conversion to which we often make reference. This is not a one-time conversion but an ongoing one, a daily one, perhaps even more than once a day. That may sound impossible, but it is not if all we do and all that motivates us is the desire to live as Jesus wants us to. It is not easy, but it is joyful and fulfilling. See more at www.catholicsteward.com/blog/ Peace, Kaitlyn Sceski, Director of Operations Father Robert N. Sherry of Cross Catholic Outreach will be visiting our parish next weekend to speak at all the Masses on behalf of the poor in developing countries. Cross Catholic Outreach was founded to create a meaningful link between parishes in America and the priests and nuns working in the Church overseas in the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Central and South American. TRAVEL THE WORLD and never leave home. SHARE! Northeast is looking for volunteer host families for foreign students who would like to learn first-hand about the American Way of Life.
