OUR MISSION STATEMENT: Growing In Faith Together (G.I.F.T.) From the Pastor. A while ago in a homily I mentioned a resource that I value and use often when I am preparing my sermons. The person is Fr. Robert Barron from the Archdiocese of Chicago. His sermons and background material are always insightful, theologically sound and connected to life in our modern world. Anyone can go online to www.wordonfire.org and access, free of charge, a weekly homily and much more. I encourage you to check it out. It s great if you have a listening devise for your computer so you can hear Fr. Barron himself. I think you will appreciate this resource for adult faith enrichment. While you are at your computer, why not go online & check out the Church of St. Peter s new website. After a lot of work by a volunteer, Tony Pierret, Kay Osborne, and Sharon Grygo (working with the JI School website), we now have sites that are more accessible & able to be more easily kept up-to-date by the staff persons working in the different areas of their responsibility. We invite your visit at http://churchofstpeter.org. It is a work in progress and we would like your suggestions as to best use these sites and the digital technology that are such an opportunity and challenge in our world today. Catholic Daughter News REMINDER TO ALL CDA members, Court #1601 our next meeting is March 13 th at 6:30 pm. We kindly ask all members to bring a donation or monetary gift for the St. Peter Area Food Shelf. In addition, we send out an open invitation to anyone who would like to become a member, to sign up at the table in Narthex the first 2 weekends in March After Christmas Mass in December, the Church of St. Peter gave 700 copies of Matthew Kelly s book Rediscovering Catholicism to fellow parishioners. Since that time, there has been five faith study groups started, involving over 30 individuals, and we have heard multiple conversa-tions of how people of different ages and back-grounds have found the book to be of interest. With the understanding that not all can commit to a book study, the Church has added a Book Blog on its redesigned web page, dedicated to this book. So we thank all those who have read and talked about the book and ask those who have the book, but put it down for a later time, to consider reading it during this Lenten season. http://churchofstpeter.org So, check out the new resigned web page, check out the blog, read the book, and keep the Lenten Season holy.

John Ireland School Science Fair Congratulations to ALL the students who worked on and participated in the 2012 Science Fair. The students represented themselves, their families, and John Ireland Catholic School exceptionally well. The judges were impressed! Special congratulations to John Borgmeier, Michael Connor, Jade Reicks, Ken Ringler, Caitlin Salfer, Sarah Borgmeier, Casey Osborne, Sophia Weelborg, and Kendall Wenner who will represent John Ireland School at the Regional Science Fair at Minnesota State University, Mankato on Saturday, April 28 th. Congratulations also to Seth Reicks, Michael Moline, Bailey More, and Ethan Klaseus who were selected as alternates for the Regional Science Fair. If one or more of the 1 st place winners is unable or chooses not to attend the Regional Fair, one of the alternates will be invited to replace him/her at the Regional Fair. LOI was a wonderful success! As young people would say, LOI at Johnson Hall Saturday Night ROCKED! We are just so very grateful to everyone, young and old, who worked, ate, played, whatever to again make this a parish family event. We could not have done this, however, without Andrea Junso, Jeff Gilbertson, Katie Batz (a wonderful Gustavus intern), and Brenda McHugh who gave countless hours of expertise to pull it all off! March is Music in Our Schools Month! The students of John Ireland Catholic School, under the direction of Mrs. Barbara Frank and Mr. Darold Rupp, will perform choral and band music for our listening pleasure. The short concert will be on Thursday, March 15 at 2 pm in the church. No collection will be taken! Come and enjoy! Kindergarten Roundup--- Thursday, March 22. Miss Eichler is preparing a very informative, interesting, and fun evening for future students and their parents. A lot of important information will be shared and tours of John Ireland School provided. John Ireland Catholic School is a wonderful school where Gospel Values are taught and lived, Education is Excellent, and children learn to follow Jesus as they grow in Faith, Values, and Christian Service. Our school hot lunch program is now up and running again. We have signed an agreement with the public school district 508 to assume the sponsorship of this program. They have provided a cook for us until the end of the school year. Esther Bense will continue as the assistant cook. The menu is the same as the public school menu, so if you are interested in what will be served here you may access the menu at stpeterschools.org. Go to parent information and select menu for North Intermediate. We are looking forward to a very positive relationship between our schools. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ----------------------------------------- SOCIAL CONCERNS The Food Share Box for S.P.A.F. is in the narthex. You are invited to fill it with food and non-perishable items for our local Food Shelf. Remember, everything they receive, including $$$$ increases during the month of March. Let s make it a big month for S.P.A.F. You may put checks payable to S.P.A.F. and/or cash in the Sunday collection basket. Please mark the envelope for S.P.A.F. In so doing, we remember the words of Jesus: When I was hungry you fed Me. When I was thirsty you gave Me something to drink. What you do the least of My people, you do to Me. Many, many of our neighbors are hungry and thirsty. Will you help? BISHOP LUCKER LECTURE SERIES Sowing Seeds of Hope in a Distracted World will be the topic of the 2012 Bishop Lucker Lecture on Sunday, March 18 at the Church of St. Catherine, Redwood Falls from 7 8 pm. The featured speaker is Jim Ennis, the executive director of the National Catholic Rural Life Conference. Come and hear about ways Catholics are making an impact in their communities! Following the presentation, the 2012 Diocesan Distinguished Service Awards will be presented. This event is open to the public and free of charge. Refreshments will be served. Good News TV Channel 7 The Seven Sacraments with Fr. Brian Mullady, OP Join Fr. Mullady, a Dominican priest of the Western Dominican Province in the United States, as he explores the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. He uses Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and writings of Church theologians to explain what the sacraments are and why they are so important. Episodes 4 thru 13 examine each sacrament individually. Fr. Mullady spends 3 episodes teach-ing about the Holy Eucharist (as the real presence of Jesus Christ, as a sacrament, and as a sacrifice), and he looks at the Sacrament of Marriage during the final 2 episodes. Episode 6: The Eucharist as the Real Presence Wednesday, March 14, 9:00 PM Thursday, March 15, 10:00 AM

PAUL: Communal Penance: Sacrament of Penance: Tuesday, March 27 at 7:00 PM Before and after daily Mass Saturdays, from 4 4:30 PM Tuesday, April 3 at 7 PM Tuesday, April 4 at 10 AM & 7 PM An excerpt from USCCB.org, Marriage: Unique for a Reason Marriage Minute: Why is a child meant to have both a father and a mother? The fact is, every single child, without exception, does have a mother and a father. Sexual difference between a husband and wife is necessary to conceive a child. But its importance does not end there. Men and women bring unique gifts to the shared task of parenting, that is, of fathering and mothering. Only a woman can be a mother. Only a man can be a father. Each contributes in a distinct and unique way to the formation of children, helping them to understand their identity as male or female. Respecting a child s dignity means affirming his or her need for and right to a mother and a father. How will you help Jesus in disguise? Next week, our parish will take up The Catholic Relief Services Collection. This Collection supports six Catholic agencies that touch more than 100 million lives around the world. The funds from the Collection help provide food to the hungry, welcome and support to displaced refugees, and invaluable life-skills to those seeking a better life. How will you help? Next week, please give generously to The Catholic Relief Services Collection and Jesus in disguise.
