I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15: 5, NIV) Dear Salem Family, It is with great honor and humble thanksgiving that we give God the highest praise and thanks for His wonderful kindness as we continue the preparations to celebrate our 135 th Church Anniversary! For a century and three and a half decades, Salem United Methodist Church has anchored this community as a mighty fortress for serving God. Since 1879, our worship and our outreach ministries have served God s people in this community and made our church a cherished place of refuge for the spiritual and social needs of God s people. Salem Methodist Church at the end of the 19th Century. A church anniversary is a time we set aside to reflect our past, but more importantly to appreciate the present while focusing on a divine vision for the future. We are standing on the shoulders of many courageous believers who opened the doors of the church 135 years ago and worked tirelessly to win souls for Christ and provide a safe haven of fellowship for the Beloved Community. Many are now with the Lord and we accept the responsibility to continue Salem s legacy of loving God and serving Creation. Our 135 th Anniversary Celebration theme: MANY GENERATIONS CONTINUE TO PRAISE THY WORKS Psalm 145:4. Throughout these years we have evolved into a strong, vibrant, and vital congregation because of the past loyalty and present devotion of our members. Our church has made major contributions to the perpetuation of Christian life in Western Kenosha County. Our past accomplishments represent the building blocks upon which we will erect a future dedicated to the religious, educational, and spiritual needs of our congregational family, community, and Western Kenosha County. The Vine cont. It is an honor to lead such a dynamic and blessed church. I am humbled that God would use me to connect the faithful, passionate, and fruit-bearing servant-leaders of Salem United Methodist Church to carry out the vision God has given me to share. Again, I would like to congratulate everyone and give thanks to God for His continued protection, guidance, and mercies upon us as we go forward in celebration and enjoy our 135 th Church Anniversary. As Pastor, I remain humbled by the great history of this historic congregation and its gracious generosity in Christian Service for the building of God s kingdom. Salem United Methodist Church s long legacy of charitable Christian Service continues to demonstrate that we are: MANY GENERATIONS CONTINUE TO PRAISE THY WORKS. Martin, our four young adults, and I love Salem United Methodist Church and are so very thankful to be a part of such a great scripture-based spiritual leadership body of sons and daughters of God. The 135 th Church Anniversary will be an unforgettable celebration. We look forward to seeing you in September. Pastor Clarissa At Salem UMC, we make no apology for strong preaching, sound doctrine and devotion to the Trinity. One generation shall laud your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. Psalm 145:4

Shalom Center Soup Kitchen Salem UMC has the privilege of serving at the Shalom Center Soup Kitchen on Thursday, July 31. We make soup, enough sandwiches for everyone to take home after dinner and serve a hot meal provided by the Shalom Center to as many as 125 people or even more sometimes. The whole process takes about 2 1/2 hours some time between 2:00 and 5:30 p.m. (depending on which you choose - soup or sandwiches or serving). There is no cleanup. The center handles that. That is a very tiny gift of your time to provide so much for so many. We also donate money to the Soup Kitchen for milk just mark your contribution MILK and drop it in the collection plate. If you would like to help make an Impact on Your Community on July 31 st sign up on the sheet found on the information board in the fellowship area or call the church office at 843-2525 to get your name on the list.
