Tim Hall Barbara Fenlason Ruth Anne Vagt Ray Nualla Ministers: All Members GATHERING AS A COMMUNITY OF FAITH We welcome you to worship in this special place, and hope that you feel free to greet your friends and neighbors as you arrive. Please let the playing of the organ prelude signal a settling time of quiet and meditation as we prepare ourselves for the Word of God. PRELUDE Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child Marianne Kim GREETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS INTERLUDE/ACOLYTE *CALL TO WORSHIP (Responsively) I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt God s name together. *OPENING HYMN O Worship the King, All Glorious Above P 6 2

*PRAYER OF INVOCATION (Unison) God of hope and glory, once again we turn our hearts and minds to you in worship. Prepare us, we pray, that we may be ready to receive you through your gift of the Holy Spirit. Allow us to open our very selves to your love. Help us to put away the cares and stresses of the world that we may hear your Word and feel your presence around us. Greet again this day your people and know our yearning for your truth. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen. A TIME WITH ALL GOD S CHILDREN PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison) Merciful God, we confess that we have not lived as your faithful children. We have been angry with the world and nursed grudges against our adversaries. We have horded the fruits of our labors rather than share our bounty with the needy. We have not forgiven the wrongs others have done, even though we desire your forgiveness toward us in Jesus Christ. Heal us, O God, and give us the grace to love as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us. A moment for silent prayer ASSURANCE OF PARDON *GLORIA PATRI (Unison) Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. THE CHURCH AT PRAYER Celebrations & Concerns Pastoral Prayer Silent Prayer Lord s Prayer (Unison) Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. GOING FORTH INTO THE WORLD *CLOSING HYMN I Am Yours, O Lord NC 455 *BENEDICTION POSTLUDE Praise to the Lord, the Almighty Johann Walther Please remain seated to enjoy the Postlude. Notes: (NC) New Century Hymnal (black) (P) Pilgrim Hymnal (blue) *All who are able, please stand Psalm 34:1-8 I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the LORD; Let the humble hear and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me 5

And let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he answered me, And delivered me from all my fears. Look to him, and be radiant; So your faces shall never be ashamed. This poor soul cried, and was heard by the LORD, And was saved from every trouble. The angel of the LORD encamps Around those who fear him and delivers them. O taste and see that the LORD is good; Happy are those who take refuge in him. ANNOUNCEMENTS No Neighbor Left Behind Our ministry of feeding and love continues this summer with our No Neighbor Left Behind partners. On Friday, August 24th, the Main Street Church will have an opportunity to prepare, package and deliver a warm, nutritious meal to families in Castine, Penobscot, Sedgwick, and Blue Hill. Watch for our announcements and sign-up lists to see how you might contribute to ending food insecurity in our area, one meal at a time. Annual Meeting The Annual Meeting of the Trinitarian Congregational Parish of Castine will take place immediately following worship on Sunday, August 19. During the meeting we ll review our activity and mission, approve our budget for 2019, elect officers and board members, and consider revisions to our bylaws that reflect our consolidated and streamlined governance structure. The meeting usually takes less than an hour and is carefully prepared and organized by the Church Council. You don t have to be a member of the church to attend, and if you do, you ll get a look at some of the wonderful things we do as followers of Jesus Christ in the world. Come and see. 6

Note: The Annual Meeting Report and recommended edits to the TCP Bylaws will be available for review prior to the meeting. Do You Feel Called? Many people report that at some time in their lives they feel called to some type of service to others. The feeling may be in response to thankfulness for a life filled with blessings, or compassion for those in need, or simply a feeling of love. But the feeling, the call, is real. It s part of who we are meant to be in God s creation. And the faithful believe that the call comes from the one who creates us, and redeems us, and sustains us in love. As we prepare for the Annual Meeting of the Main Street Church, we are seeking nominations for a few church officers and board members: Church Council (Chair of Administration, or Clerk) Church Council (Chair of Outreach and Fellowship) Deacons Trustees If you feel God calling you to service, would you consider serving a term in one of our offices or boards? Please let Pastor Tim know if you are interested in serving the church in our important and joyful ministries.
