St.Andrew s/goodshepherd Community bringing shared Christianity TOGETHER November Newsletter Lutheran/Episcopal Joint Ministry Update Notes from the October 26 Meeting Members of the Joint Covenant Council, St. Andrew s Vestry, and Good Shepherd s Council met Wednesday evening to receive information from the Episcopal Diocese and the Lutheran Synod regarding our Search/Call Process. The Reverend Lynn Carter-Edmands, Canon to the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio, Pastor Jeff Wick, Assistant to the Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Association of the Synod of Southern Ohio, and Pastor Katie Kerrigan, Director of Evangelical Mission for the Lutheran Synod of Southern Ohio were present to give an update on the Search/Call Process. Highlights: Call Process: There will be a 3-year Term- Call for the period 2017-2019. The person called will either be a Lutheran Pastor or an Episcopal Priest. Candidates for this position Will be sourced by the Synod and the Diocese. What s Inside: Lutheran/Episcopal Update Important Reminders Healing Service Information Ministry Lists Members at a Glance Birthdays and Anniversaries Financial Stewardship Calendar Committee Members During 2017 the Synod and the Diocese will present one or more candidates for approval by a Call Committee (combined members from Good Shepherd and St. Andrew s). Once a candidate is approved, Vestry at St. Andrew s must approve. The Council at Good Shepherd must approve with a 2/3 majority, after which time, the congregation will vote. If a candidate can be identified, this process should take approximately 3-6 months. During the Calling Period, we will have a Supply Priest/Pastor to lead Sunday services and perform Communion. We will also employ a Pastor/Priest to supply Pastoral Care as needed. When Pastoral Care is needed, members will contact Council President Vic Aleshire or Senior Warden Bob Rea. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact any member of Vestry, Council, or Covenant Council for further information.
