Scripture Reflection Instead of Matthew s Sermon on the Mount, Luke places a section of Jesus teaching on an unspecified plain. The Gospel emphasizes the great crowds that come from around. It records only four of the eight Beatitudes found in Matthew and also woes for those who do not practice them (Gospel: Luke 6:17,20-26). Jeremiah contrasts those who do not put their trust in the Lord with those who do so. For both, he uses the image of foliage (First Reading: Jeremiah 17:5-8). Paul teaches the Corinthians the centrality of the Resurrection (Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:12,16-20). Responsorial Psalm meditation: Happy indeed is the one whose delight is in the law of the Lord. (Ps 1:1-2). You may like to say this as a meditation on your Rosary. Scripture Readings for the week ahead Monday Genesis 4:1-15,25; Mark 8:11-13 Tuesday Genesis 6:5-8, 7:1-5, 10; Mark 8:14-21 Wednesday Genesis 8:6-13, 20-22; Mark 8:22-26 Thursday Genesis 9:1-13; Mark 8:27-33 Friday 1 Peter 5:1-4; Matthew 16:13-19 Saturday Hebrews 11:1-7; Mark 9:2-13 PARISH NOTICES Calling all Soupmakers! Homeless Appeal: Thank you for all the donations of gloves and socks we have received so far. More information about their work can be found at http://www.cefoxford.co.uk Financial donations can be made via www.justgiving.com/communityemergency-foodbank Children s safety: the Parish Council is concerned that for their safety children are not allowed to run freely around during Mass. Please also be careful about children going outside the Church and Hall and running into the road. Friends of the Holy Land: Please contact Denis Duggan at dgd73uk@yahoo.co.uk if you would like to join this group. Data Protection: Would you please inform us if you do not wish your data that we have collected through Census Forms or other means to be used to contact you. It is now a

requirement that everyone whose name is on the parish sick list actively agrees that it is there. Would you please help to ensure that a relative/friend on the list is informed about this.
