January 22, 2017 THIRD SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY Montclair Elementary Angels Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Nelson Mandela At Oak Grove, we are committed to serving in the name of Jesus. We believe that our service not only changes us, but changes the world. One of the ways we are helping to impact our community is through our ministry with Montclair Elementary School. By supporting the work of Montclair, we are helping to create brighter futures for the students at the school, their families, and our community. This past December, at Montclair Elementary s Seasonal program, Montclair s principal, Mr. Fred Hammonds, recognized the wonderful support of Oak Grove with the presentation of an angel award. Oak Grove members have been angels for Montclair students and staff in many ways. Each week we provide weekend food bags for 100 students. In the summer we collected school supplies, book bags, and school uniforms to assist with the start of school. Our Warm Up Sunday provided much needed coats and hats for students. At Christmas, we have had the joy of providing Christmas gifts for children. Our UMW has hosted teacher appreciation lunches and served as readers in classrooms. Last school year our Covenant Kids program provided an after school club where students could have fun and learn more about God. Thank you Oak Grove for investing in Montclair Elementary and in the education of these special students. You truly are God s angels at work! At Oak Grove, we are committed to serving in the name of Jesus. We believe that our service not only Montclair Angel Award changes us, but changes the world. One of the ways we are helping to impact our community is through our ministry with Montclair Elementary School. By supporting the work of Montclair, we are helping to create brighter futures for the students at the school, their families, and our community.

Oak Grove continues to receive an offering for St. Luke UMC in Augusta, GA, which burned during the Christmas holidays. The inner city church plays a critical role in serving the residents in this low income area. Oak Grove member, Chrissy Callaway has been a volunteer at their mentoring program, Kids with a Future, for three years. Chrissy writes: The program has played an instrumental role in the community and in the lives of the kids who attend up to 3 times/week. She recently attended the high school graduation of two of the children from the program. Both graduates were the first individuals in their families to graduate high school. They attributed much of their success to the support and encouragement of the St Luke community and the mentoring program. The church has insurance, but there will be significant costs the insurance won t cover. You may contribute through Oak Grove by check, online, (www.ogumc.org) or text to give. Mark your donation FIRE. Bridge Oak Grove United Methodist Church has a monthly bridge group that plays the 4th Monday of every month. All are welcome to attend. The emphasis is on having fun. Prizes: Excellent prizes for closest to the hole, longest drive, and top three teams. Sponsorship: If your business, or you as an individual, would sponsor a hole, you may do so for $200.00. For everyone s safety and security, the church is open for scheduled events only. At no time does the church have open gym or open building when people are allowed unsupervised access to the building. This is especially important with youth and young adults using the gym. There is never a time when it is permissible for youth to access the building without scheduling the building or participating in a church activity.
