Houston Welcome to Asbury! Here at Asbury, we strive to reach out beyond the walls of the building into our community and the world. Many of our 6th-12th grade students spent their spring break week ministering the love of Jesus here in Tulsa, across the U.S., and around the world. Whether playing with children, giving out food, making repairs on homes, or just being a friend, our students learned some tangible ways to share the gospel and their testimony. We have many ongoing outreach opportunities available here. Come join us and find out how fulfilling a life of serving can be.

Announcements Congratulations! Today, we celebrate 224 couples with 50 or more years of marriage, for a total of 12,802. Thank you for being such an amazing example to our church. God made marriage one of the highest forms of worship, and one of the greatest institutions there is on Earth. He even uses the bride and groom as an analogy for His love of the church and for His coming return as well. That alone tells us how special the marriage bond is to Him. Not all couples in America make it to their 50th anniversary anymore. Of all current U.S. marriages, only 7 percent have reached the 50-year mark, according to the National Center for Family and Marriage Research at Bowling Green State University. Thank goodness God has blessed their efforts to honor Him through their marriage as they have set an excellent example for others to follow. How d they do it? Many described feeling that they d found not only a person they could live with, but perhaps couldn t live without. While the old rule may be that opposites attract, the experts advise pairing with someone who is a close match on core values: religion, sex, parenting, money and family. They don t see divorce as an option. That s vital given that even the happiest marriages aren t always happy. (Excerpt taken from the Washington Post via web, February 11, 2016) Current Sermon Series April 17 -Evil and suffering occur on a worldwide scale, as with natural disasters, genocide, human trafficking, terrorism, chronic poverty and so forth. Evil and suffering can also touch each of us personally through abuse, accidents, injury, premature death, chronic illness, family trouble, job loss and so forth. When tragedy strikes it can be difficult to understand how God is all-powerful and good at the same time. Evil and suffering can cause people to doubt God s goodness or it can draw them toward His compassion and empathy.
New Sermon Series Starting May 1 Good Work We are God s handiwork, created to do good works. While many consider work to be a four-letter word and a necessary evil, work is both an expression of God s image in us and His gift to us. Come find out more! Notes:
