Service for the Lord s Day 22nd Sunday after Pentecost G A T H E R I N G ORGAN PRELUDE Prelude on Lobe Den Herren (MANZ) WORDS of WELCOME MINUTE for MINISTRY Youth Ministry Feed My Sheep CHORAL INTROIT Come, Let Us Sing! (WAGNER) Come, let us sing and make a joyful noise to God! CALL to WORSHIP One: Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. All: This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. *HYMN 482 Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty Steve McBride Evan Wadley, Acolyte Pastor Ballantine Cara Evans Chancel Choir Marilyn Schoenthaler LOBE DEN HERREN *PRAYER of CONFESSION Unison Merciful Friend and Savior, we confess that, while your love and grace free us to live as new creations, we too often cling to and are weighed down by the old. We hold on to grudges and hurts rather than forgive; we justify our envy and greed rather than embrace self-sacrifice and the common good; we turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the needs of the world rather than accept the least of these as our neighbor. For those times when we have been angry instead of kind, self-absorbed instead of thoughtful, fearful instead of bold, we ask your forgiveness. Renew in us a heart of pure devotion and outrageous delight in serving you and your purposes in this world. *SILENT PRAYERS of CONFESSION Here each worshiper may offer silent prayers of confession *CHORAL RESPONSE Hear Our Prayer Hear our prayer, O lord, incline thine ear to us, and grant us thy peace. Amen. Chancel Choir *DECLARATION of FORGIVENESS One: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. May the God of mercy, who forgives you all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. All: Amen 3

*RESPONSE to GOD S PARDON HYMN 567 Glory to the Father GLORIA PATRI *THE PEACE One: The peace of Christ be with you. All: And also with you. One: Let us greet one another with the peace of Christ.
