St Mark's Anglican Church South Hurstville We at St Mark's aim to grow in our relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and to welcome others into an open Christian community where we can experience and explore the reality of God in an atmosphere of acceptance and trust. 4 November 2012 Festival of All Saints 10.00am Valedictory Choral Eucharist Liturgy Holy Communion Special booklet (based on APBA p119) Presider Revd Chris Albany Preacher: Revd Chris Albany Leader Bruce Cooke Intercessors Barbara Ferguson, Elsie Moore, Doug Golding, Lorraine Sweeny, Rex Merten Readings Isaiah 25.6-9 Eric Plumer Psalm 24 Responsorial TiS 13 John 11.32-44 Revd Andre Jacobs Introit Let us praise your name Setting: Billington Anthem Bourne: Thou art God Communion: Sing praises all you peoples Hymns Fill my house, 467, 650, 470, 779 Reflection Saints are often thought of as unique or holy human beings who did miraculous and extraordinary things in their life. This may be true for some but most people who have been given the title of saint were simply ordinary people who lived a life of obedience as disciples of Jesus Christ, and it is such people that this All Saints Day commemorates. In his letters Paul often refers to the Christian believers who live in Christ and in whom Christ lives, as saints. In this way, Saints would be seen as those who model Christian witness of obedience to Christ in humility and self-sacrifice, as Christ s Ambassadors. Pray that our faith and Christian discipleship may be challenged and inspired by the witness of others and that our own life may be a model of Christian witness of obedience to Christ as saints. The Revd John Kafwanka, Director for Mission, Anglican Communion Office, London Welcome...... to all visitors this morning, as we celebrate and give thanks to God for ministry at St Mark's during the period that Chris Albany has been Rector of South Hurstville since 2005. 1
